? about X Plan

over the weekend I started loking around at dealers for a 09 XLT. Where I looked NJ near NYC the dealers have pretty much nothing as far as trucks.

Anyway I made mention to the dealer of using the XPlan, he replied, 'well in the past you just needed the pin, but some dealer got zapped so now you need the documenation to show that the pin belongs to you'

Is this guy full of it???

also can anyone recommend a ford dealer near NYC (NJ, NY, even eastern PA, CT, etc)

Thanks

Depends how bad they want to sell the car. All they need is a number.

Technically, they are supposed to verify that you are with a Ford Partner firm. I have been asked to produce a copy of the Ford verification page (or email) that shows your PIN is associated with you (and not someone else using your PIN or member firm status).

X-Plan pricing = close enough to invoice that anyone should be able to negotiate anyway.

There is also a x plan for friends and neighbors. So just get s letter from whereever you got the pin from. But I don't think the dealer needs that anyways. When they enter the pin, they would get a answer directly from ford saying if its good or not. Hope this helps.

You do not need to o to the dealers outside your area. Just use the search using different zip codes to find what vehicles other dealers have. Best to look outside a 50 mile area since close dealers do not like to trade with each other. That is how I got mine. Went to my local dealer and gave him a dealer and vin number. One phone call and the truck was on the way to my dealer. No exta charge and the same deal as if I had bought one of his lot.

I've got a question about X plan pricing too... When using x-plan plus rebates, how much more could one expect the dealer to take off the price? I wouldn't have a trade either. Thanks...

To my knowledge, the X-Plan price is fixed. It's based on the invoice price and is a few percent high (Someone might know the actual %). You are still entitled to all/any current incentives and rebates. I was informed that Ford is very strict when it comes to X-Plan pricing (or any plan for that matter) and will audit the dealers to make sure the customer was given the correct price. I guess this is because Ford doesn't want the dealer to add on any extra 'fees' to make some more profit.

Like apt said in the earlier post, most people can get the price of the truck lower than the X-Plan price. A good point of the X-Plan pricing is the dealer cannot add any additional fees other than a maximum of $75. You still get all rebates/incentives you normally would if you were going the "traditional" route.

Regardless of which way you go, shoot for 8-10K off MSRP. Good luck!
