I think that was one of the things they tested on myth busters about reving your engine to get it hotter so the heater would warm up quicker and it didnt make any difference except put wear and tear on the engine. Im sure some one will chime in and confirm. I could be worng though. i think it was the first series they done it when they also tested the MPG with the tailgate up and down and it was better to have the tailgate up.
