Aftermarket backup camera

Next up on my list is adding a backup camera, mostly for trailer hookup. I haven't really found much that doesn't get poor reviews or is ridiculously expensive and brands that I've either never heard of or manufacturers that I don't equate with top quality. And I really don't want wireless because I've read mixed reviews regarding interference from Bluetooth and other 2.4GHz signals. Then I found this system from Pyle which runs about $80. They probably aren't the best manufacturer, but also probably not the worst and the price is very reasonable. I'm considering buying it for the monitor, then buying a better quality camera. Has anyone used it? Any camera recommendations? I thought about the factory camera, but don't want to spend that kind of money. I was thinking about going with one of the license plate frame units.

I like that monitor because it looks like it will fit nicely into the front sunglass holder in the roof of my XLT with some minor trimming of the plastic that actually holds the glasses.

I used a Boyo license plate camera on my 06 KR. It was awesome and did a great job. I have an aftermarket DVD/CD player, so the camera simply hooked to that. I hooked it up so I could turn it on at any time. Good quality cameras!

I just found a refurb Audiovox ACAM350 unit on Ebay and got it for a best offer of $60 shipped. I'm thinking the camera is the key for quality (anyone can make an lcd monitor), so next I'll work on finding a good quality camera once the monitor arrives and I test it out. I'll check out those Boyo cameras.

Sweet! I stumbled across a seller on Ebay with a bunch of stock camera auctions for $75 that had recently ended. I sent him a message to see if he had any more he would be posting and he did (he said this was the last one, sorry folks!)

Through a previous post here I know these have an NTSC output that will work nicely with the monitor I bought.

Got my camera today and got the wiring figured out. I have a small 12V supply I salvaged from an old router that works great for testing with the TV since the LCD display hasn't shown up yet.

For anyone who needs it:
Red = +12V
Black = Ground
Green = Video-
White = Video+ (RCA center pin)
