09 FX4 Crew for the weekend.

My dealer let me borrow a new 09 FX4 Screw 5.5 bed for the weekend. So far it is way down on power for my liking and the 1-2-1 tranny hunting is a little annoying. I will hook the trailer up and put a few more miles on it.

I hooked up to my 24ft trailer and took it for an eight mile trip. I tripped the sway control program twice on the highway. The truck held the weight of the trailer okay. It did want to sway easily. Power in the city was very good thanks to the super low gearing of the 6 speed auto. The accel above 40mph was very poor. I was able to get it up to 65 but it took a while. I could probably make short trips but this is still a job for an F250 in my book.

Unloaded the truck is very nice, the stock mirrors are about useless compared to the tow mirrors I am accustomed to. The Sync may have frozen up a few times with my iPod. I think this is a comfortable length of truck. I am not sure about the 6.5 screw. I am still on the fence. It is my fault I have F250 taste and a F150 budget.

Sounds like you have a good dealer. How heavy is your trailer? The new tow mirrors will make the old super duty tow mirrors seem useless. (If that is what you are accustomed too.)

Buy a pre-owned truck.

I have thought about this also. It goes back to miles, warranty and financing then.
