Limp home mode

So my new 09 went into limp home mode or so ford calls it. The truck was fine then just **** out.. It dint stop running but the speedo just stopped working the wrench light came on the low fuel light went on and the low tire press light came on. It still runs but not that great. Anyone have this on there 09 yet? Truck has like 3500klm or like 1500 miles on it. Also found I was missing a firewall plug the other day right under the brake pedal.. Not a happy guy Going to drop it off at the dealer in the am..

Sorry to hear that. Let us know what the dealer says. Have you made any mods to the truck at all?

My '02 did that once... almost EXACTLY what you describe. Turned out it was the PCM that was faulty. After the dealer replaced that, it never had another problem.

Hopefully, the dealer will fix it right. Post the fix when you can.

My 05 crapped out on the freeway when it was new, 1600 miles. Wrench light came on, would barely run. Took over 1/4 tank to go 15 miles, to the dealer. Turned out to be the throttle body which was replaced and I now have 86,000 on her and no other problems.

Limp mode on my "06 last week. Turned truck off and all good. Went and had the codes read. #2104 and #2111. Throttle body related. Reset codes and not a problem since. In my original thread I told of a friend who had same problem but once he cleaned battery terminals,,no issue. Don't see how an '09 can have bad terminals. It's an 09 so you will be covered by dealer.

I also had the "limp home" happen on my 09 XLT 5.4L - the wrench appeared in the dash and the truck had very little power.

I immediately pulled over and turned the truck off. Turned on and everything was fine. Its never happened again.

Just an update for you guys. Well it turns out it was a tranny fault. They did a reset and took it out and it runs ok. They said it was a sticky valve in the valve body and are going to replace the valve body.. So no truck till thurs or fri.. Boo.. I just hope this isnt the start of something bad .. Anyone have this done or know anything about it?

Had the valve body replaced on my 05... at about 30k miles... ran great afterward. Shifted really weird before they did that. It was a TSB on the '05... might be one on the '09 soon. I hope they get you all fixed up man.

Had this happen a few years ago when the wife had a 2000 exploder. We went through 5 valve bodies on the tranny. They kept failing and the truck would go in limp mode. After the 5th one they decided to put a new trans in after I enforced the lemon law for numerous repairs and loss of use of the vehicle. Hopefully the valve bodies are made better and you wont have anymore problems. Did you truck have the hard shift from 1st to 2nd? I have that now, wondering if thats going to be a future problem. I know theres a TSB for it, Dealer gets it Mon so ill see what happens!! Good luck with yours!!

My 09's wrench light just came on when I dropped it off at the dealership for an oil change and get the hard shift from 1st-2nd fixed.

It looks like a bad throttle body. Hopefully its fixed for good when I pick it up.

By the way I just turned over 10k miles on it.

Mine came on my 09' Lariat with 60 miles on the truck. Connector on the tranny was "loose" or so they said.
