I was close the other day but i decided not to at the last min. I think the clear lights go well with the white tri sand color and the other lighter colours but it would def look good on a black truck.

^^yeah, I wouldn't smoke it all out with the white color and chrome trim pieces.

Actually like Hotlap mentioned, I think a clear reflector would like nice in the mirror too on a white or silver truck with chrome mirror skull caps too.

I smoked the signals on my mirrors of my FX4 over this past weekend as well. I used 4 coats of Nitehades and 3 coats of Duplicolor clear. They look alright for now, but I'm still not completely satisfied. Eventually I will probably end up painting them black.

Here is a pic without flash:

And here is one with flash:

I have also been thinking about digging into the headlights, and smoking the taillights as well, but I can't really have the truck down for that long. The next three day weekend I have I will probably tackle those. The headlights for sure, I'm still don't know if I'm completely sold on the Niteshades. I may just have the tails professionally tinted.

Well I guess now we know that you've totally eliminated the purpose of the reflector.

This is kinda random, but when you removed the reflector, did you see any sort of room in the space behind (mirror housing) it for a small LED or bulb? I thought another kinda cool option would be if you could turn the reflector into an external turn signal and just tie into the LED mirror turn signal wiring.

That was my first thought. I was gonna try and find a set of turn signal lamps like the ones on the mirror side of the mirrors. the little 3 inch or so ones. then try and install that behind these reflectors. It could prob be done if you dont mind cutting some plastic from the mirror case behind the reflector. It shouldnt be to hard but weather or not it would be worth it i have no idea. I might look like crap.

Yeah, you'd have to judge on where the mirror mounts inside of the housing...if it's right on the inside of the reflector area (I suspect it is) you'd be out of luck.....sure would be easy to tap into the existing mirror turnsignal power though...

It strikes me as a little odd that the stock mirrors have the reflector and the trailer tow, "Big Honkin", mirrors do not. Not that I am looking to add them to mine, just seems a little odd to me.
