Just in Case....... go with a 2009

Sometimes you just know what's right and wrong, even if it's not against the rules. To me it seems low to make a thread about it with more pictures to show off. The majority just look at the pic shown in the TOTM thread and vote, adding more and in a whole new thread gives you an edge. I showed my wife and her sister the TOTM thread, her little sister suggested making a thread to advertise. I said it's a good idea but it just seems wrong to me. Doesn't matter. Good for him, he's going to win.

I agree that posting a thread asking for votes on a truck in the TOTM running is somewhat unusual, but not against the rules. I asked Brad (Rockpick) about listing all of my modifications along with my picture, but he said the contest was based on a single photo of my choosing. With that in mind, I refrained from creating a thread advertising my truck, but continued to post the stuff I do on an ongoing basis.
This means the next contest will see a whole lot more advertising threads. Whether that is good or bad, will be left to the Admins.

PS. Congratulations to DeereGeff on the come from behind win!!! You have a great looking truck, even though it is a 2009...

With that - when someone new does take the time to even find the TOTM thread - they have the clear option of looking at the photo album of each contestant and to see more pics to make a decision.
I dont know who decides what picture to put in the contest but some clearly could have had a much better picture of their rig in TOTM. Some trucks you can tell are badass from the one pic - some simply are not and looking at photo albums of an entrant is very easy to do to make a judgement.
Deeregeff is a great member on this site and is constantly providing help and answering questions. And it sure doesn't hurt that he has one BADASS truck!

Many of us find the self promotion distasteful while many of us see it as resourceful campaigning. While it may have caused some to vote that would not have otherwise, I can't see it really changing ones mind as to how to vote. In fact, it could cause a backlash if you were thinking of voting for him and found the promotion distasteful. The fact is, currently, it is not against the rules, though that may be reviewed for future contests.
The pic used in the contest is the one turned into Rockpick as the pic the owner wishes to be used. Rockpick even suggests that voters go to the profile and review all info and pics about the contestants before voting.
I think it's great that the contest has generated so much interest and the last thing we want is for people to get bent about it. It is meant to increase the fun here.

No offense to anyone but I felt the same way when I saw this thread. Maybe not pathetic but more like Desperate. I know he's not breaking any rules but why would you do something like this. Actually after the posting of this thread his votes started to rise and now he's winning (even though that was the purpose). Every month now we're going to have someone doing something like this. Your advertisement should be in your photo album
