so according to the guys at PHP, just by pulling out that snorkel peice from the fenderwell to the airbox you will gain about 7 hp and 7 ftlb torque...found it at the php forums...........HAS ANY BODY TRIED THIS YET?

 

Ford engineers probably put that there for a reason.

 

yea probably bc ford cant call it a true cold air box if they didnt have it...but php has the dyno chart to prove it on their forum website...i am taking mine off tomorrow

I hear that putting a coffee can on the exhaust and putting a wing on the back adds like 200 hp. Anyone tried it?

 

when u get an 09 then you can speak

 

when you get a higher post count and some seniority, then you can speak.

 

Add some cool stickers and you can get 25-50 hp!!

 

I have done this mod. I noticed an increace in mileage. I havent done any timed runs to say about power. The part removed is to keep intake noise down.

 

Every dodge around here doe's that.

 

And when you take your truck in for warranty work and they notice that piece missing, warranty voided.

 

Give it a try and post your results. Keep in mind, the 7hp gain was made on a tuned engine so the gains, if any, on a stock engine may not be the same; perhaps less.

 

Wow, never realized people would be so negative to tested and posted results. The piece does have a purpose yes, to reduce intake noise; not a big deal. It will not void the warranty unless somehow a problem arises and Ford can say that piece directly caused the issue, then that component/system will be voided, not the whole truck. Amazing how some people can be so negative and snippy to others over such a small thing. It isn't like he is adding a CAI to an '04 5.4 without a tune and running lean.

If your nervous about warrenty the part snaps back on easly. Can be reinstalled before warrenty work is done.
