Headliner Help!

Here's a quick and secure fix for anyone who has had issues with their headliner coming down/sagging just behind the moonroof. I took my truck to the dealer twice for this issue and they were unable to fix it so I did a little research online and found the fix. Extreme Velcro is the answer, it can be purchased for under $10 at your local Home Depot and the intended use is for extreme surfaces and temperatures. All I did was remove the factory velcro and prepped the surfaces with alcohol. I applied the velcro at night (cooler surface) and held it in place for about 10 minutes. The next day I went to check the outcome and all was good. I waited until the interior temperature was at a high and re-applied pressure to ensure the velcro tape was pressed on real good. It has held up since the application and with some light pulls on the headliner it seems to be very solid. Good luck.

thanks for the tip. Has it held up after opening the moonroof too?

I noticed mine sagging so I pressed/reconnected the factory velcro and it was fine for a week or so because I didn't use the moonroof. Then just yesterday I used my moonroof and now I notice the headliner sagging again.

If it's not raining my moonroof is open and it has held up fine so far. The only other thing I wish I had done was apply some double sided tape to the inside of the headliner and the top of the roof. That way when the heat hits the roof and begins to melt the glue on the velcro tape it will also melt in with the double sided tape and hold even better. Damn, I might do this today but I don't want to pull what I got going now down. Anyways it's a good fix for cheap.

great info....thanks. I will do this tonight!!! I kind of found a fix for it with the stock velcro. It is using the same 3/4 closed slider window trick as you use with the moonroof tilted up. When you do this the headliner stays up a lot better but I miss having the wind tunnel...lol.

My wife had the same problem on her 2008 Edge Limited. Yeah, pay that much cash for a vehicle and the velcro won't hold up. She had a new headliner installed and it still sagged. The dealer finally had a third party repair guy come in and install a heavier duty velcro and so far it is still in place. Heavy duty velcro is definitely the answer.

I had taken mine in 3 times for this and come out each time with the same exact problem. All 3 times they just pushed it back up and hoped it would stay. When i got it back the 3rd time last week i just went to lowes and bought some indutrial velcro pads and stuck then between the others and pushed headliner back up and it's been good since.

I thought I read somewhere that Ford was supposed to be making a kit to fix the the problem.
