Trouble downshifting

Having just a bit of trouble on my 09 extended cab XLT. Anybody besides me having trouble with the tranmission catching a bit when it tries to downshift from 2nd to 1st when stopping? I've had the truck about 2 weeks and I just noticed it today, and it's driving me crazy.

Take it back to the dealer and have them check it out.

I'm going to first thing in the morning. Kinda disappointed though, just sold my 05 F-150and NEVER had a bit of trouble with it, and this one already has kinks...

I took it in today and I have to take it back in the morning. Said they didn't really know what was going on, but they are going to hook it up to the computer and see what the shift times are.

Hey jmlmns, any update on the issue or resolution from your dealer? I have a 4.6 3V that is exibiting the same symptoms.

Thanks!

My wife's '08 Expedition had similar issues, but it's a 5.4L 6 speed. They had to replace a control module for the trans TWICE before it was fixed. Frustrating, but it's smooth as silk now.

I was a little hesitant about the '09 F150 with the same 6 speed trans... so far so good, but I only have 600 miles on it.

Ya, it just took a few hours to fix. Said there had been a memo sent out that the shift timing needed to be readjusted in the computer. Runs like a top now!

My 2009 STX does the same thing. Seems like it doesn't downshift till about 5 mph.

EDIT : Removed because info is now inaccurrate. They do have a fix available for both the 5.4L and 4.6L 6sp tanny versions. My dealer had previously told me that they reprogram was only for the 5.4L engines... but I'm going in next week to get mine reprogrammed.

Your dealer is full of then. lol He's lying because they said it was the same bulliten as the 5.4L. All they did was reprogram mine, same as the 5.4. Sorry your having troubles man!

They have a TSB out for erratic shifting on the 6 speed trannys. Talk to you dealer about it. I used to have the #. I will have to look for it.

The tsb (technical service bulletin) is for harsh 1-2 shift during vehicle warm up and intermittent/ erratic 3-2 and 2-1 downshifts.

I had this done and the truck shifts now like it should... I do find its a little weaker in tow mod though.
