HOW TO: USB 2 to Glove Box install (no console)

Great easy mod, it took me less than 10 minutes and I consider myself a newbie at best when it comes to this stuff.. I wanted to do this when I saw the original post but I just finally got around to it.
Just an FYI....all the new drives are USB 3 (backwards compatible with 2.0) which means they have a new cable/connector. You no longer need the USB female A to mini B connector but you do need a female A to female A connector to connect the 2 cables.
Thanks for the original post!

And as predicted, I have yet to use the CD player in the truck. I had 6 months of free Sirius radio when I bought the truck and have since let it expire. I felt there was no need to renew the subscription with everything I want to hear loaded and ready to go.

I have read several of these installs, and this is the first one that has made sense to me. My first thought was I already have a USB in the dash and that is where I plug in my iPhone, why would I move it...now after seeing the pictures, I understand adding a second that I didn't realize we had the option to do. I'm definitely doing this so I can load my flashdrive in there. Unfortunately I see too drastic of temperatures to put a harddrive in (plus I would have to get another external).

ok so I've got everything I need now (ordered parts online and saved a lot of change)
last questions... I think
do I need to upload all of my files to the HDD before installing it, or use my zune as I would with SYNC? I'm assuming just copy the files onto the new drive and plug it in but I've been wrong before

my whole reason for doing this is because the factory HDD doesn't have enough space to hold all of my tunes on my Zune now... ~118 or so GB of music
I was gonna delete everything off my zune, edit my MP3 list (doubles, crap I don't like etc) then reload the new MP3 set onto the new HDD and install it.
I was only gonna reload them onto my zune so I'll have them available outside of my truck.

Just wanted to throw a shout-out to the OP for this thread...
I just rigged up my 2010 Screw, which has the center channel. I have an iPod Touch, so I used a Mini-B to male end USB, with the female/female adapter, so that I could plug my iPod Touch in to the USB2 Port. Ordered the cable and connector from monoprice.com which was cheap cheap.
Easy as can be. 10-Minute Mod. Now, the iPod is stowed away nicely in the glove box, hooked to the USB 2 input, and no cables to be seen. The way it should be!
(My 2010 Mustang has the USB port inside the center console. I guess since not all F150's have the center console, Ford used the One Size Fits All approach and put it in the dash for everybody.)
Anyway, problem solved. OP is the man.

I did this mod a couple of weeks ago and really like the convenience of always having my music and an extra USB for whatever like charging my phone.
For the first couple of weeks it work great with voice commands. I could say "Play Track" xxx and it would play. Now it say that voice control is not available for this device? I tried unplugging but this didn't help.
Do others have voice commands available for their USB2 drives? Have any of you had this problem and is there a fix?
Thanks,
Jim
