First oil change - when?

I didnt read all 4 pages of this thread. Go to any automotive forum and its the same story over and over.
I asked Ford why my owners manual says 7500 miles between oil changes and the sticker the dealer puts in my window says 3000 miles?
The answer is that they want to sell me 10 not 4 oil changes every 30,000 miles.
I have always gone with the owners manual and have never had an oil related failure in over 35 years of driving.

Either 5000 or 7500 will work, it's your choice. Scientific testing of used oil has proven that oil is still suitable for continued use at 3000, at 5000, and at 7500 miles. If you want to drive beyond that you will need to purchase your own used oil analysis, which may cost as much as an oil change.

I'll change mine around 3000-4000 miles on the first change, then go by recommended intervals after that. Just something I have always done on new vehicles. Never hurt anything. In the old days, it was important and recommended. Major drive components in those days were not assembled like they are today and break-in time, especially the engine was in the manual. My first new vehicle, a 1969 Z-28 Camaro, 302 CID manual made it clear if I recall. Besides, what can it hurt?

Isn't the 7500 mile OCI for those that start the vehicle and travel the highway all day long? The rest of us will fall under the 5k mile OCI recommendation?
Has anyone notice the vehicle Oil change minder comes on around 5k miles?
Had dealer change at 2500 miles with Motorcraft oil and filter cause I didn't want to fight the oil filter on first change. Then changed out at 5k miles with Motorcraft filter and Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20. Vehcile will get OCI's every 5k with tire rotation at same time. This is same OCI program run on all my vehicles. Just easier to track all vehicles OCI and tire rotations every 5k.

I have just a tad over 500 miles on mine so I can't say. But wouldn't surprise me. I find out something new everyday I didn't know. And I went through the manual pretty throughly. I would think under normal driving, 7500 miles would be fine. But the idea of tire rotation/balance at the same time of service makes sence to me. I know I won't be changing oil/filter at around 3000 miles like my 04. At times I felt like I was recycling clean oil I could have used in my lawn mower and other engines.

I wake up extra early so I can change the oil anytime I know I'll be driving more than 100 miles. Good insurance and I've never had an oil related failure.
Oh, and I use peanut oil because my father-in-law said it was good stuff.
Don't you guys love your truck?
