Tinted Tails - Platinum Style

I finally took the plunge and decided to tint my tail lights yesterday. However I went a little different route to keep the Platinum theme working on the truck. I mainly wanted to get rid of the white/clear outline around the outside of the light.

I ended up going with 4 coats of NiteShades on the outer border and a couple light coats over the lense areas. I left the chrome and backup areas untouched. Well enough talk, on to the pictures.

Before

After

Nice job on the lights. I like your subtle touch a lot better than those that do the entire lens. However now they look mismatched to the appliqué on the tailgate. The lights look too short but its a minor mismatch. I like the Platinum except for that appliqué. The great job you did on the lights would look so much better if the tailgate was plain but I know such opinions are subjective. You've got a great truck regardless.

I tend to agree and have been tempted to remove that appliqué many times.

I saw some trim on eBay the other night that was similar to the one running down the side of the truck. There are three rows of trim that fits in the "channels on the tailgates. Three rows might be a bit much, but you could pick and choose how many to use.

Looks extremely classy Geff. Was wondering how you're going to pull that off with the tint and the silver lining along the truck when you first started mentioning it. Good Job.

Looks Great Deere! So you did have time to do it this weekend. Keeping the chrome looks good on your platinum. I got my recon white lighting tailgate bar installed this weekend, not as worried about cops now. Again, your truck looks great

Looks real good. I like the fact that you kept the chrome ring on it.

Your mod is very nice but I tend to agree with vtach. Nice touch of difference.

Unrelated, did you add flares at the wheel openings? <---- never mind, I seen your other post after this reply.

Your truck looks great with your tails tinted as well.

Yeah, I did them yesterday and this afternoon. I really like the looks of yours on your truck, just wasn't sure about how it would flow with the Platinum tailgate. I could still tint them completely if I change my mind, but thought I would try it this way first.
