Another wheel backspacing thread
OK I think I've finally got it all figured out just wanted to run it by you guys before hand. So let's suppose I install a 6" ProComp lift, I know the widest wheel I can run is 9.5" and the max backspacing is 5.5". Well here's the problem the wheels I really like don't come in 5.5" backspacing they come in 5.71. So according to my understanding the lowest backspacing number I can go is 5.5", which would mean that I can run the 5.71" with no problem. For some reason I'm having a hard time understanding this stuff, which never happens to me . So I'm swallowing my pride on this one and just asking basically if I can run the 5.71" with the 6" ProComp lift? Thanks to all respondents.
BTW the wheels I've settled on are the Moto Metal 956's, hopefully you guys tell me I can use em'.

If I am correct the 5.71" BS will actually make the wheel run deeper in the wheel well. Since the distance between the inside bolt flange and the inside edge of the rim are further appart. That tells me if you have a 5.5" BS max the 5.71" BS will most likely cause the wheel to contact the spindle on the lift kit.

I agree. I'd contact Pro Comp and ask just to make sure they will not work.

Well I worked on it all day, I even made a powerpoint slideshow of wheels that will work in an attempt to decide on the right wheel. Once again I've settled on a wheel only this time they will work. The wheel is the ProComp 6001 which has a -12 offset and 4.5" of BS, if I combine this with the Bushwacker extend-a-fender I think the look will be awesome.

I assume the 20x9 since it is the only -12mm offset ??? Your new wheel will extend outside the wheel well about 3". The extend-a-fender will take up 1.75" so you will still have about 1.25" of tire exposed. Hope you dont drive may rock roads or go offroad too much. That much out you will likely slig crap all over your truck.

Here is a shot of mine with a +12 offset on a 20x9" wheel and the Buishwacker extend-a-fender flares. A 9"wheel with -12 offset should stick out about 1" farther. I would suggest going with a +12 offset myself and save yourself some additional trimming and chips. FYI, I had to trim the corners of the lower valance a bit on mine to make the 35" TOYO's fit with the +12 offset.

Wheel Offset Calculator
Try this wheel offset calculator to verify what the new wheels would look like. I used this when I was looking at wheels and trying to decide. Just pop in your stock wheel dimensions and the new and compare the two. My stock wheels on the Platinum were 20x9 with +44 offset.

John, The wheels should stick out 32mm (1.26") farther than the stock wheels. How far they stick out will also depend on your choice of tires as well.

Thanks Geff,
I'm putting 275/60/20's on and the stock is 275//55/20 so the tires would be the same ? also,do you know the stock width of the stock platinum wheel ?
Discount tire said they were 20x7.5 I thought they were 20x9 ?
Thanks for the help

Your tires should be about the same, some will have a slightly wider footprint than others. My wheels were 20x9's. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your truck soon.
