Anyone using the new 3G I phone with the Navigation System? Having trouble getting the I Pod to work.

I'm using the 3G (ie not the newest 3G S) and it's working fine. It doesn't allow track forward/back and such from the steering wheel and/or nav screen, but the pause/play works. Nav and phone have been wokring flawlessly.

What troubles are you having?

Not with the Nav system, but with regular Sync, no problems.

I am using an iPhone 3G as well. I haven't had any problems. Another thing to keep in mind, is that if you have the latest iPhone software (3.0), now you can stream audio via bluetooth directly to the nav/radio. It's awesome. Pandora, YouTube, iPod, voicemails, they all stream wirelessly and sound great!! Good luck.

Streaming music with Bluetooth works fine, however, when I attach the phone with the USB cable the screen shows the artists, time of play, etc., but I get no sound. I also attached a Line In cable, still no sound.

Whenever that happens, I unplug the iphone, choose another source, plug the iphone back in, say USB, and it works.

Is the USB cable the only connection required?

I had the same problems with either of my bluetooth enabled iphones while connected via USB sync. my old 3rd generation ipod works just fine. to get the my iphone 3gs to work (while connected with usb) i have to turn bluetooth off on the iphone. this works fine until i need to make a handsfree call. still searching for a way to fix that

i just found this solution on the syncmyride website.

http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pf...yncmb&tid=1296

"Solution: When you have a BT audio capable iPhone and the USB connector plugged in, you have to tell the iPhone to send audio over USB. Go to the iPod app on the iPhone. At the bottom it should say "Sync" and the BT speaker icon. Tap the speaker icon and select "Dock Connector". This tells your iPhone to stop sending the music over BT (A2DP) and send it over the USB cable. You have to do this every time you get in your car and plug the phone in."

hope this works. i'll be trying it myself.

actually this feature of the 3.0 iphone software sucks, i like having the blue tooth stream feature but it takes over your phone and i hate, if you look when your phone connects throught BT it will start playing whether you want it to or not, just pick up your phone and open the ipod app it be playing from where you left off. even though i have my sync settings set not play automatically it still does and that pisses me off.
