There was a 2010 at my local dealership today heres some pics and a funny cash for clunkers pic at the honda dealership

 

There was ment to be an auction around my area for all the clash for clunker cars that dealers couldnt sell and just an hour ago i see news and they aint ment to be re selling them or even going back on the road. Clearly dealers are taking advantage of this.

 

Yeah, I heard they are supposed to be draining the engine oil, replacing it with some chemical mix that will ruin all the bearings, etc. so they can't be driven...used boat anchors anyone?

 

I have a question about the Lariat that was just posted. I noticed the criss cross in the grill. Do you have to get the chrome package to get the criss cross in the grill or is that the new standard Lariat grill?

 

Ooohh, if only I could visit that '10 for awhile, tear off those defrost strips and slap them on mine. Bwa haha!

yep, that's part of the new 2010 Lariat chrome package. You get the chrome mesh grille insert, the big 6" step bars, and now it has the chrome door handle pulls so they are the same exact handles as the Platinum.

Any cars traded in on the cash for clunkers deal will be disassembled and whatever metal can be reused will be melted down. The purpose of the program was to provide incentive to buy a new fuel efficient vehicle and get some of the old gas guzzlers off the road for good. I hear it was a pretty good success, average fuel economy improved from the mid-teens to the mid-twenties (based on what was traded in and what was bought).

 

Clunker engines are required to be destroyed ! Oil is drained and a sodium silicate solution is added. The engines are then run till they sieze !
For those involved with rallies - I always thought the Raptor would make the perfect sweep vehicle .Our next rally is in october - Rally New York

 

Since that grill is just a new "insert" I wonder if you can swap it out with the non chrome package one. Has anyone looked behind their grill to see if this is possible? My 2010 Lariat without chrome package has an ETA from the train Sunday Aug 9th!!!! I am biting my fingernails waiting for it.

 

wow, just noticed the gear ratio on the raptor is 4.10.... Thats alright
