mpg keeps restarting

About every week or so the mpg in the dash resets. It usually occurs while the truck is parked and hasn't run in several hours. Anybody have the same problem our know how to stop this?

Are you hitting the Reset button accidentally? Hitting the reset is the only think that has ever reset my mpg.

I've noticed mine to reset like that twice now -

Each time, I had started the truck, backed it out of the barn, then shut it off right away - the next time I started it I noticed the mpg reset.

So in my circumstance, I figured that I shut the truck off before the computer completed its start up cycle or something.

Not hitting the reset button. Drove to work yesterday, parked the truck and 12hrs later when I was leaving the parking lot it reset again. It seems reach the point when the avg shows a steady number in the dash then it resets by itself.

Maybe you have something there -

I was kind of obsessive with my new mpg readout, and was resetting it manually at every fill-up.

Around 4K miles, I finally gave in, and just let it be - now mine did reset ~4800 miles by itself.

So, maybe it does reset itself after a certain amount of time......

I think it should keep a running total of the last 500 miles. I have never noticed mine to reset on its own.

Cool

Mine reset itself once, no idea why. It was just after a long trip, and poof, reset. Then it acted wonky for awhile, trying to decide my mpg over the next week or so. It finally stopped going way up or way down (at one time it said I was getting like 17MPG, if only!) and settled back into it's normal routine. Been averaging 15.4 MPG all the time now. Not sure why it acted up, it was fine for months and then went kablooey, just the one time right after a long drive down and then back home.

Nope. At least not mine. I just ran it for at least a month and just manually reset the mpg this morning. Probably put over 1,000 miles on it.

Mine just reset itself this week. I was on the way to work and opened the sunroof and rear window, looked at the dash and it switched from reading the average mpg to trip A. I switched it over to average and it had reset itself and was showing around 17/18 mpg. However, it didn't take it long to settle back to the regular 13.4 mpg.

Mine has been steady since the last time I posted. I'm getting 19.6mpg with mixed city and highway.
