ive been going back and forth between buying a used f150(04-08) or a new 09... been emailing a couple of the local dealers for quotes and what not... i mainly need the truck for cross country driving from FL to CO and back a few times a year. either way i go it will be a 4x4...

i may also be purchasing a 6x10 or 6x12 enclosed trailer to tow behind it (3,500 to 4,000 lbs loaded). how do the 09/10 compare to pre-09 on towing up and down 6 to 8% grade mountain passes?

 

With the 6 speed that comes in the 09 up, I think you will be far better off with that. Both for towing and gas mileage.

 

Not to mention the overall changes with the 09's. They are comfortable, quite, and have a great ride. Plus the perks each trim level has. But the overall decision is yours.

sold my 06 fx4 for a new 09 fx4.....the 09 is far better ...and thats saying something because I loved my 06.....new tranny , more power , better looking, ....good luck.
