Name this part

I was looking under the bed of my truck yesterday and noticed this and have no idea what purpose it serves. It is located on top of the frame on the far back left hand side of it. Its about 12" long 4" wide and 1" thick. It bolts to the frame with two rubber isolaters so it pivots side to side quite a bit. It sits right between the frame and bed. I hope I described it good enough.

Sorry for the dirty pics but it rained yesterday and I didn't have time to wash it yet. Weekend project.

Yep frame vibration damper. I was bewildered when I saw mine, thought it may be part of RSC, but then I came upon a thread in the 04-08 section.

Are they only on the 4x4's? My 2wd XLT doesnt have one and neither does my dad's. We've also both got the 5.5' bed.

Not sure if it has to do with that (being non 4x4) or if wheel base is the deciding factor on who gets on.
