It was the same with the 04-08 4 speeds.Trottle lag, transmission lag...Just wait for a good programmer to come out and all the problem will be over

The programmer give a night and day difference.

I'd have to say no on that deal then... sounds like it's not such a great deal given that it doesn't have much of what you want in your truck. If you spend that much time on the road, you better get something that you like/want and not settle.

That said, I think in your situation I would hold off and try one of the tuners that have been suggested. This will save you the depreciation hit on your F150, it'll save you gas $'s, it'll save you the hit on depreciation on the new F250, etc... I guess I'm just saying you ought to explore all options before jumping to the F250... unless of course the real issue is that you wish you had bought an F250 in the first place and not so much the power you feel you are missing.

Before I got F150, I was all set to buy FX4 F250 V10. I mistakenly listened to sale person and took loaded F150. The deal on this XLT F250, which the dealer is including the ford black tubular steps at no charge and charging me $368 for roll up touaneau cover has to be taken by tomorrow or deal is off. Its a tough decision, and one programmer told me who custom tunes for this F150, that it won't even be close to the output and transmission shifting as the V10. He said the tuner will disable torque management but not give me anywhere near the useable torque that the V10 puts out.

I never tow, nor do I carry any weight. i just want the torque for hills. Everyone on this board thinks super duty's are only for towing and nothing esle. I crave power and torque, without having high rpm's. I'm not into cars, or small SUV's, and I must have someting with a tru 4x4. Towing, shmowing, enough already.

Ron, Try the tuner. If you don't like it, get the new 2011 Super Duty in the Spring.

Dude. Obviously you want the f-250. If you have the money to buy it then buy it. It sounds like nothing is going to make you happy until you have the v-10.

But the grass is always greener. We are trying to prevent another post in 2 months where Ron complains about the 10mpg and terrible ride, all for an extra $150/mo in payment.

For $1200-1500, you can swap your axle gears, much cheaper than upgrading trucks, but I'd start with a good engine tuner for $400ish.

With the dealer cash and low inmterest, my payments would be less. As for gas, I get reimbursed from my employer for my commutin mileage.

Have you test driven this proposed truck to verify it meets your expectations on the route in question?

I think that you should go ahead and get the v-10. Your reimbursed for mileage so 9-10mpg shouldn't be an issue and you would be satisfied with the torque you were looking for. Alot of people on this board are satisfied with custom tunes. In my opinon I would exhaust all other options before taking a hit on the depreciation. That's just me.

My worry with the tuner is that its generic and voiding warranty. Ford uses different computers in there trucks, so how do you know which program it was tuned to? The hit is not as much now. As matter of fact bloombug radio today said manheim auction which dealers use for pricing, is reporting lower used vehicle then ever before as people aren't trading thus values are higher on used vehicles as demand is greater for used over new.

OK, but with the number of miles you say you put on...ain't gonna happen. Plus, you'll take more than a $2000 depreciation hit to trade a one year old truck in on a one year old truck.
