No, not a lot of towing...I was just impressed with what I'd been reading about with them...so I figured I'd give them a whirl.

Supposedly the 2010's have better brake pads without brake dust but it's not exactly true. I have 1500 miles on my 2010. 700 of those miles were on a road trip this past weekend running up and down the CA coast. Lots of 15mph turns and then accelerate to 45mph and then another hard turn. Now, my wheels are not BLACK with dust like some of those soccer mom expeditions running around town that never get washed but I washed my truck before I left town. 700 miles and I have very noticeable brake dust compared to the rear wheels.

Would EBC pads be the way to go?

Leave them alone.
I agree, leave them alone. Thing is, I have seen several vehicles with painted calipers mounted behind different size wheels and it seems to be the focal point of the vehicle. Wow, That's cool looking and you don't even see the rest. Even though it does have a certain look, I wouldn't waste my time painting them. Just more work keeping them clean. Actually, they look pansy to me like women painting their fingernails.

My '09 had horrible brake dust. I had it for about 2 weeks and put thermo-quiets on. No brake dust now!

Same here, brake dust just as bad now on my '09 Plat just like my '04 Lariat. Once the pads wear out I'll replace 'em with some ceramic ones just like I did on my '04 when those wore out. Until then, washing the '20's is little effort and they look amazing afterwards.

Wow...don't know how I got so lucky, but mine can't even compare to how bad my '04 was. After 4500 miles now, I still see no brake dust...and my '04 would've been black. I've washed it about 4 times, and cleaned the wheels once myself...and they weren't even very bad that time.

Same here. No dust at all. Just took a road trip to Helena, Mt. 250 miles on interstate and many miles stop and go in town. Got back home. Noticed no brake dust at all. My 04 would have black front wheels after that trip. Maybe I got lucky too. What a difference.

I have an 09 with the factory 20" wheels, 6k on the clock, I have noticed a lot more brake dust on them lately. More on the front than the back. When it comes time to change the brakes, don't know if I would go with the ceramic. I had the ceramic pads installed on my TJ jeep, less dust but it felt as if it didn't have the same stopping power. Just my 2 cents.

I need to do a little research on the pads/rotors Ford is using on the 2010'S Because this is a world away from what I experienced with the 04. Did they change to a different part or am I just taking it to easy. Either way I'm pleased and haven't changed my driving patterns. I hand washed my 04 about every week depending on the weather and still looked great except for the brake dust. Embarrassing actually. My neighbor would always point it out.

I just had NAPA drop off a set of Adaptive-One hybrid ceramics. Has two different pads. One for the outside of the rotor for dust control and the inner for stopping power. They seem to have reviews so I'm going to try them out.

I'm sick of the Gunmetal front 20"s as well
