This sounded stupid to me! please explain

OK well i was talking to a guy i know about my truck and trailer. He started going on about how i need a truck like the f250 or 350 to tow my 7x14 trailer that weights in around 7000lb when fully loaded. But let me get this clear my platinum has no trouble at all with this trailer even on the mountain roads in VA but he wouldn't have it. He told me that the front suspension was not up to the job of towing my trailer and he said that when i put the trailer on the rear of my truck that it puts to much stress on the front suspension!! Well I'm confused as my truck gets lighter on the front end when i tow my trailer. I don't understand how he figures that the front of my truck takes the weight when the weight is behind the rear axle? I guess if i put to much weight on my hitch that my truck would tip up in the air. But no matter how i explained it to him he had an answer for this. One of them was why do you think the f250 can tow so much more and that it's because of the stronger suspension setup up front. I'm finding it hard to understand how this works. To me more weight behind the rear ale means less weight on the suspension up front!

Explain please people.

Barritia, I see you met Mr. IKE, I Know Everything. People like that should not even open their mouths, but they do, so they can insert foot and sound stupid. I pull my 13,000# boat with my F-150. Yeah the F-350 my son has does a better job, but the 150 takes it down the road just as good. I notice that the 150 doesn't have the suspension control like the 350. Use a little common sense and tow away!!! The 150 is a heck of a truck!!

What does he drive? I would be supprised really fi the front axle axtually got lighter. It might actually gain some weight as well. I know it is different, but my parents' 5th wheel lowered the rear of the truck some, yes, but the front lowers too because the truck see the weight over the whole frame. The weight is mainly on the rear, but some weight is distributed to the front axle as well in that case.

Yeah i could understand if it was a 5th wheel as some of the weight is infrnt of the rear axle. But when we are talking hitch weights then adding more weight behind the rear axle must remove weight from the front axles? Thats how i guess it works anyway. Infact i know thats how it works but the guy got me second guessing what i know.

Exactly. I bought a new 2002 F-350. 7.3 PS. Great truck but I don't need it now and my new truck will do everything I need it for. A neighbor came over a couple days ago. I was washing my truck and he got somewhat interested with it. I talked about it for a few mnutes, then had him sit in the pass seat. I said "Check this out" went SYNC to phone, gave my command to call "his name" It dialed and got his voice message. I thought it was cool, but he said. "My 1998 S-10 shows him what the temperature is outside" I just about lost it. Said goodby, have a nice day and finished washing my truck as he was walking away talking about how great his S-10 is so great. Hey, it might be, never even sat in one so I can't compare.

There's nothing worse than people who are jealous. Had a few mates who used to be like that and when pulling up in a new car they wouldn't even move to come look at it. But when it's the other way around they want you to come and look at it. I was showing a friend the other day how cool the viper alarm was i had fitted. Showed him the remote start, Auto window closer, Shock alarm, one touch window close and open, Tilt alarm and told him about the battery back up and glass break sensor and the almost 2 mile range. All he said was mine has remote start whats so great about yours
