There must be a manual over ride.........

Man I was really intrigued about these rain sensing wipers on my 09 Lariat. Until I started dealing with rain and snow. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes for them to kick in with a shield full of morning dew. When I rinse my windshield they hardly work in proper time. As well, it's snow time now and they took about 10 min for a complete shield cover of snow that I couldn't see through. I stood with a hose for a couple of minutes blasting the windshield before they came on once. Is this right or are mine out of whack? I been searching high and low for a fix with no prevail. There must be someone here that can potentially save my life... Manual override me....!! I would love to control them myself.

And what did the owner's Guide/manual say when you looked in there?

Like page 65?

Do you have it on the correct setting. Where do you have the dial set?

It doesn't matter where I have the dial set, the wipers never come on when needed. And the manual has no literature in it about a manual override, which doesn't mean there isn't. I've seen threads on other vehicles where peeps would disconnect wires etc.... just wondering if anyone knows a method with this truck..... As it stands there is no in dash fix to disable my rain sensing wiper option so I can run them the old school way....

Oh you have a lariat. You dont have rain senseing wipers. Thats ya problem Unless you have the upgrade package that adds them. Dont even know if they do that package or not. There is only one plave the dial can be for auto sense if you do have it. It's in the middle. I had the same problem until i read the manual.

I assumed it was standard on this model, but mine is rain-sensing wipers. And the whole dial is assumed for this feature. The owners manual states it, " in any position the wipers are rain sensing". That's it that's all. I just wish I could pull a plug and activate the wipers when I want.

The rain sensing wipers are not available on the Lariat. You are looking at the picture in the manual, and assuming the picture matches yours. Look directly above the "rain-sensing" and you'll see the delay-type you have. You have the same-looking **** that is only a delay. That is why your wipers are coming on when they want to. If you turn them on the slowest setting, it takes a while, but the closest setting to fully on will be about 2-3 seconds between wipes. IF you still have issues, it is a multifunction stalk problen, and you should get to the dealer before it rains next.

Sooo, let me get this straight. You don't have the rain sensing wipers but thought you did. The reason the wipers weren't coming on like you thought is because you have them on the lowest intermittent setting?

C'mon, it's a little funny!

I do not think that the "Auto-Sensing" rain wipers are an available option on the 2009 Lariat. I just looked over the website and could not find anything and my Lariat has every option available.

Those "Auto-Sensing" wipers are only on Platinum's as far as i know...

Good luck, let us know what the dealership says!
