Price Question

OK guys, I have a few questions. I am fixin to trade my 05 STX in on a new STX or XLT. My first question is: How much of a difference in performance is there between a 4.6 2v and a 4.6 3v? What is a fair price for a supercab xlt with the basic xlt package? I want to make sure I get the right truck.

Like night and day. The 3V comes with the 6-speed transmission which is worth the extra money and the extra valve adds a lot of punch when you really need it.

When Superchips dyno'ed the 4.6L 3V and the 5.4L engine they found the 4.6L actually has more peak HP and the peak torque is within 1 ft/lb. That conflicts with the official ratings from Ford but it illustrates how close the engines are in terms of peak HP and peak torque.

So the 3V gets you close to the performance of the 5.4L and betters the fuel economy of the 2V 4.6L. The best of both worlds.

Look in the local news paper for the advertised truck. That is typically their loss leader in that they offer this one at a loss to attract business, but charge more for other trucks on their lot. The loss leader offered may be an STX or XLT. You can walk in and purchase the exact loss leader vehicle at that exact price. Also keep in mind that there is a shortage of used f150 in most markets, so if the offered trade-in is low you can consider selling it yourself. Otherwise if you trade your truck in on the loss leader they will try and make up that loss on the trade-in value of your 05.

Real,

I got a 2010 4.6 3v xlt supercrew with tow, chrome, and convenince package.
Sticker was $34,900. After rebates and alot of negogiating I paid 27,900. I think I got a good deal and I love the 4.6 3v with the 6-speed tranny.

Hey, congratulations!

Now go break it in proper, none of this sitting around and idling idiocy.
