Stock 20"s with 33" tires possible with what lift?

Hey guys... hope this isn't a dead horse but I couldnt seem to get anything when searching. I have the 20" wheels on my lariat and want to add the 2" lift to the front for the time being. I'll either add a 3" body or down the road when we're able to afford better go with a full out suspension system (when their prices drop and my daughter is a little older).

Will I be able to run a 33" x 12.50 x 20" tire with that 2.5" front leveling kit (probably an AS) and have minimal rubbing or none at all? I'm used to some rub from my jeeps i've had in the past but didn't know if the 20" stocker tire will work with a 33x12.50 due to backspacing.

Thanks!

If you have a recommendation on a 33"ish tire let me know, i'm still browsing. I will probably get something from Firestone though (since I have credit there lol)

Yes, a 33" tire should fit fine with the leveling kit.

I'd say go with BFG T/A KO tires, maybe the 285/55/20 (~ 32.5"x11.7") or 305/55/20 (~ 33.4"x12.4")

Hey NCSU

So it should work with the stock wheels? Call me crazy but i like the stock 20" rims (i guess thats why i got them lol), is there a certain width tire i need to go for to make sure they mount. i know with my jeeps i had to get a rim with more backspacing because the tires couldn't even mount. that sucked finding that out after i had bought the tires. just making sure everything will work before droppin' coin.

We ought to meet up sometime since you're right down the road. I go to Raleigh all the time to Lawmens, and Five Guys burgers lol... I'm a FAIT (Fat A$$ in Training)

Five Guys

I know on the 2004-08's you can fit a 35" tire on a 4x4 with the 2" leveling kit (that's what I have).

I can't imagine that the 09's+ have changed that much. Regardless, you should probably wait till some 09 owners chime in. I know there are guys out there that have put on bigger wheel/tire combos.

Your stock tire should be ~32", so take a look at how much clearance you have now. If there's plenty, then a 33" should fit.

I've never been to Lawmens, I usually go to Eagle1Supply. It's right around the corner from my office.

The guys at Eagle 1 have always been pretty rude when i've gone in there. Guess thats why I prefer Lawmens. Either way I hope someone posts up about the wheels/tires soon. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of most of the people that work there. There's one guy who's really good though. I mainly go there for the range.

With the stock 20" rim, you might be better off with the 285 tire. The backspacing i beleive is about 1/4" or so in from the 18" rim. I have seen guys run the 305 on a 20, but it is usually pretty close to the UCA.

I'd suggest the BFG AT KO, Nitto Tera Grappler, Toyo AT, Mickey THompson ATZ, Pro Comp Xtreme AT or **** Cepek FCC II
