dealer discounts/incentives on 2010

anyone know what the dealers are looking at behind the scenes right now? I can only see between 2500 and 3500 in incentives available, but that seems to be way off from where some of the purchases are. Just want to make sure to have all of the information possible before making a purchase...

You should be able to negotiate a price close to invoice then get the rebates. So in total you should be about $2000 to $3000 below invoice. If the dealer is truely interested in selling at a fair price they will show you the invoice pricing.

I guess I should have financed with Ford, but with that kind of rebate I could just imagine what the interest rate must be.

I've seen $10k off sticker price on all XLT and higher (FX4, Lariat etc.) F150s (not sure how much that is off invoice) around the NC area lately. That applied to on-site trucks only.

jetech00001 is right, take the fmc rebate and refi later. It's worth the hassle.

I'm assuming $20,000 is a typo?

You would have trouble getting that kind of deal on a 2010 XLT that was not heavily optioned because the dealer would literally be selling at a loss (even considering customer incentives and dealership kickbacks). As you go up the price scale there is more room for discounts of course. My 2010 XLT 4x4 SC had a MSRP of 35,820 which reflected $500 off for a factory XLT Sync/Tow discount and I purchased it for just over $28,000 before tax and license. I believe I could have talked them down another $900-$1000 but that would have been rock bottom, I wanted to leave a little on the table for them because I knew they couldn't stay in business if every vehicle sold that low. If the truck was a XLT regular cab 4x2 there is no way they could have taken $10,000 off MSRP unless they made it up some other way (outrageous financing, poor trade-in value, etc).

Are you sure you're not thinking of 2009's? If I'm not mistaking, the 2010's have lower MSRP's than the 2009's (by about $1000). The fully loaded high-end 150's have much larger margins (the difference is astounding). If you just need a basic truck you are getting a real value on the XL's. For the price, it would be fun to get a XL regular cab 4x4 132" WB and thrash it in the hills in 4x4 mode.

Yeah, the dealer I was thinking of had a BUNCH of 2010 F150s on the lot that they were having trouble moving. It didn't apply to all trucks, just XLT 4x4 package and up. However, I double checked it, and it was actually $8,000 off, not $10,000. Still not a bad deal.

Also, $9,000 off F250's...but you're spending another 5 to 10 thousand more to begin with

Nice deals! Now to see if I can get a dealer up in the md/va/dc area to do something similar. I found a deal on a lariat 4x2 scab at just under 6k off, but hey 8k would be better. Unfortunately they won't budge on it because the unit isn't in their inventory and would have to trade with another dealer to get it. It is currently in the 'maybe' category unless I can find the original dealer and they are willing to sweeten it up a bit.

Been looking around otherwise, but the 4x2 lariat s-cab is a tough find. Everyone seems to want fully optioned/chromed to the max 4x4s that their customers use to take the kids to school. I completely appreciate why the dealers fill the lots with those trucks, but unfortunately I have modest, if somewhat luxurious, needs. (leather + captains chairs are the way to go )

Anyone know if there is a nationwide or regional search engine that lets you specify model down to lariat or even s-cab?

The ford site doesn't really help with anything beyond a few local dealers. I end up searching google for all of the dealers, going to their webpages and finding properly priced vehicles manually. The painful part is that they don't generally show enough options in their lists, so I have to put the vin into http://pgroup-inc.com/testing/vin.php to lookup the window sticker and see the details.

It works, but is a total pain.

One websearch for the entire regions 40-50 dealers would be SO much easier.

I am buying a truck tuesday and I have been using cars.com to search. It is pretty accurate on dealers inventory. If cars.com didn't have hte trucks specific details I would enter the VIN into this site and it shows the window sticker

services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin= ENTER VIN HERE

This has been very helpful while looking for trucks. as you can narrow down on some equipment, color, 2x4/4x4 and trim package. Hope this helps

Very true, I forgot about that for some reason (car != truck in my mind )

I spent the past hour looking through there. Unfortunately searching manually I have found 4 trucks that are "close" to what I would like, but they have not appeared on cars.com, even though those same dealerships use cars.com. Only the highly optioned ones seem to be up on that site for some reason (profit of course). Just try to find a 4x2 lariat on there, they don't seem to exist on cars.com, either 4x4 or "unknown".

Price also seems to be all over the board there, since they don't require the dealer to show msrp and their offer price. Thats a minor gripe, but I could more easily search on msrp because I know what that would be with the right options.
