Manstep and Bedrug

Does anyone know what options are available for the Bedrug when my truck has the tailgate step installed? Do I just lose the functionality of my handle?

If you install a bed rug couldn't you just have the hole cut where the handle is?

I have the bedrug and the step. The bedrug is velcro attached to the tailgate, and hides the handle. If I need it, I can release the velcro. The reality is I never use the handle. I am planning to do like some here and keep the step, but get rid of the handle and replace the panel on the inside of the tailgate with the standard panel so that I have a flat tailgate. Right now the plastic cover and the handle make the tailgate pretty lumpy, which I just dont like.

I talked with Debbie at BedRug and they do have a new BedRug made specifically the F-150's with the tail gate step and flip up assist handle. She said the portion covering the tail gate is a molded piece and has a zipper in it for the handle and I believe it uses the factory hardware that secures the tailgate molded plastic cover to attach the BedRug. The '09/'10 product number for it is BRQ09SCSSGK. I think it's $28 more for that option and AutoAnything has it for $407.55 with free shipping. That said, 'pickupspecialties.com' and 'bedrugoutlet.com' are both advertizing it for the standard model price of $379.00 so you might want to check with them BEFORE they change their price.

I have an easy soloution and i have done a whole bunch. Remove the plastic tailgate cover and place the bedrug on the tailgate. Now, cut the end piece midway right before it comes to the handle and leave some slack at the bottom so you can open and close it easily. Place the plastic tailgate cover over the bedrug and force the bolts that hold the plastic cover through the bedrug into the tailgate. This is the best pic i have, sooo easy.

Took off the handle and added the standard panel today....SO much better. Bedrug looks and lays flat. Can sit on the tailgate. Looks really so much more in line with the rest of the truck in terms of quality.

If any of you with a non-step want a stripper pole and all the peices....we could work a deal.
