Has nothing to do with pumping the brakes.

It's all in your manual what to do.

Good luck.

Just press and hold reset. Then it resets to the percentage already set in the system. 100% is like 7500 miles or something to that effect.

Owner's manual page 103:

Oil Life XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center and according to the recommended maintenance schedule. USE ONLY RECOMMENDED ENGINE OILS.

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change (approximately 7,500 miles [12,000 km] or six months) perform the following:
1. Press and release the SETUP control to display “OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the RESET control for two seconds and release. Oil life is set to 100% and “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” is displayed.
Note: To change oil life 100% miles value from 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six months to another value, proceed to Step 3.
3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the RESET control switch to change the Oil Life Start Value. Each release and press will reduce the value by 10%.

I understand that the oil life percentage is also affected by the kind of driving you do- city vs. hwy. and whether you have a heavy foot or not.

Wrong! Oil life is strictly based on mileage or time, nothing else.

oops. My bad. Its GM that uses multiple data points to calculate oil life. Ford is either behind on this feature or it is overrated.

Thank you for the information......all good ...reset this afternoon...the reason I stated the brake needed to be hit was my wife had a escalade a few years ago and to turn off the oil light you needed to turn the ignition to on and pump the brakes 3 times to reset the light....Merry Christmas to all!!!!!
