Safety Alert - Rear seat armrest cup holder

For those folks that have rear seat armrest cupholders, please read the following incident report.

I have submitted this information to Ford. I also reported this issue to the local dealership. Upon examining all similar models on the lot, all had the same issue.

This note is respectfully submitted on this forum to prevent injury to you or your loved ones.

Vehicle – 2009 Ford F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4.

ISSUE – Rear seat arm rest cup holder. Cup holder has sharp edge that acts in a “guillotine” fashion while cup holder assembly is moving to closed position. Fingers can easily be positioned against “cutting surface” while in act of closing the cup holder assembly.

INCIDENT – While sitting in passenger side rear seat of vehicle, 6 year old son closed cup holder assembly. Right middle finger sustained deep cut near end of finger.

POTENTIAL SCENARIO – The cut could be much, much worse if additional closing force was applied.

OWNER’S COMMENTS – I have been very pleased with this purchase and previous ford purchases. This issue should have been caught during safety review. Upon further examination, this incident is not limited to small children. Adults can suffer the same consequences just as easily.

REQUEST – Suggest modifications to prevent reoccurrence.

hmm, I just went out and checked it out and it is a pretty sharp edge. I never noticed before because nobody ever used that yet (my daughter is too young yet).

I was actually kinda wishing my FX4 came with one back there. That's a shame to hear though, hope your son is alright.
