I have 2 company trucks that have had similar problems to what you describe. The first is the vibration and the seat shaking. We took the truck to the dealer and they said there was mud in the wheels knocking them out of balance, now it seems to drive fine.

The second truck rattled in the front end like what you describe but only in the cold and in the snow? Not sure what that is either but it sounds horrible like the front end coming loose. But it seems to go away in normal driving conditions. Hate to hear your having trouble, maybe your dealer can resolve it.

High pressure sprayed my truck off this morning. All of the large chunks of ice that had built up along the rocker panels, step bars, wheel wells is gone and so is the chattering.
I have had other cars make interesting sounds in the winter which seem to be related to ice buildup.
good luck

Has anyone that has the shaking problems had the driveshaft checked? Maybe Ford had a bad run of shafts. Just a thought.

I have the 20" wheels with Pirelli rubber around them. On cool/cold nights, the tires feel flat spotted for a few miles the next morning and then the tires round out. As for other noise, I don't hear any snap, crackle or pop (the rice crispy characters) or squeaks or squeals. But then again, I haven't driven or parked the truck overnight in temps below freezing.

I like the traction control at times, but my truck also has the limited slip diff. I usually disengage the traction control during snowy weather. My 07 F150 was better in the snow, but it had more offroady tores on it. The Pirellis, I am learning are more for sporty look rather than function.

I actually have the same chatter sound from the front left as well. Dealer says everything is ok with suspension. Seems to be an issue when cold.

I also had the dealer complete a high speed balance on the wheels, and the vibrations seems to have gone away. Too bad I have fixed the vibration issue but now have a dent in the door from the dealer!!

And lastly, during what seems to be isolated to colder days, I get a "rattle" in the front end. Sounds is consistent with loose ties rods or sway bars.
Sometimes i hear a knock when im slowing down from high speeds. I guess the trans is just working itself in ? havent consulted a dealer about it yet. But if it continues to drive like that im going to.

I also notice that "knock/rattle" noise coming from the front of the truck. I live in a condo so when i drive up the ramps to my parking spot i notice the sounds everytime i turn. Mind you i only notice this when its cold. Weird.

On my 09 Screw the vibration mainly happens when it is below 35 degress F at any speed from 5 mph to 70 mph. When I switch from 4x2 to 4x4 the vibration stops. After I switch back to 4x2, sometimes the vibration resumes sometimes not.

Any one notice that the only folks with the vibration issue are the ones with 04-09 model years? Could it be the brakes? I know my brakes warped with 7k miles on the truck... had them machined, they are back to warped with 15k miles now... on my truck it only causes shaking when the brakes are applied, but with all the shaking my '08 did, I can see where this could have been the cause.

2010 f150

I have mine at the dealer with the same issues. they told me this morning there is a recall on the driveshaft bearing. Funny though you have the same rims and rubber that I have. I told them to fix it or shove it up their ***. I had and 08 and have only had this truck a week. Not Right. Did you get this resovled?

Let me know

Thanks

2009 Platinum vibration

Kelo,
I have a 09 platinum with the 20" wheels and pirell's. My empty passenger seat vibrates when I have the tires at the Pirelli recommended pressure of 43 pounds, but hardly any vibs when I have the tires at the door jam recommended pressure of 35 pounds. The other issue is I get a low pressure fault light when running at the lower pressure, not to mention much worse gas mileage.

Mine shook right of the showroom floor. When I took it back they said they replaced a bad tire. Seemed to help a little but the passenger seat still vibrated at the higher air pressure.

I just picked up a 2010 Lariat and the passenger seat shakes like crazy. So much that it's making quite a bit of noise, like shuddering. I have the 18" Goodyear tires. I would sure like to hear some more suggestions/opinions regarding this.

Thanks,

Jeff
