With the demise of the Crown Vic, this makes perfect sense. Great engine, durable suspension, plenty of AMPS to run all of the systems, great cooling system and with the cab stretched in '09, plenty of room for cages. Plus....when done, I suspect the auction value of these will far surpass that of the old sedans (which here almost all go to cab companies which are going Hybrid anyway).
I have one catalog here that even sells a cover and organizer for the beds to carry guns and other law enforcement equipment.

He said that he likes it alot! He also loves the fact that he is more comfortable in the truck than the Crown Vic, being that he is 6'6" or 6'7" and a little over 320lbs.
Hopefully I will get to take a better look at the truck one of these days, to see what all it has installed on it.
The funny thing is that just 2-3 years ago when gas prices were over $4.00/gallon, the county was talking about maybe going to smaller cars. And they also took all the light bars off the Crown Vics and put lights behind the grill and such. Now they have 3-4 4wd Explorers, a 2010 F150, and I think they just got a F350 to tow the mobile command trailer. I guess times aren't as tough as they were just a couple years ago.
