Installing Auxiliary Switches

I origninally posted this on the electrical forum.

I would like to install aux switches in the cab but can't find a good place to penetrate the firewall. I'm looking for suggestions as to the best place to snake wiring through from the engine compartment to the cab without a making a major project out of it.

Your experience is welcome.

well you have a few ways

on the passenger side firewall you can drill a small hole right be side the wireing harnes and pull it down right to the floor or you can fish it though the wire harnes

Funny how Ford could solve this by just adding Upfitter Switches as an option for the F150, they have been an option in the SuperDuty's for years upon years. Sure, they are rigged for ignition-on, but can be modified for always-hot functionality. C'mon Ford, shouldn't this one be a no brainer? You tout your trucks as real work trucks, but then take a simplistic option like this and not give it in the 150? You even have it in the Raptor. Geez. Really?

RSBEACHBUM2 - Nicely done -

Cometflash - point well taken - I've actually been on-line trying to find the entire switch module that they install in the Raptor. I think they use one of the console storage compartments for this in the Raptor.

Thanks all for your input -

Thumbs up Post those "Upfitter Switch" pics!

Yep, here's mine from my 2004. My 2009 doesn't have the room, like the other member mentioned. I was hoping to use one of the empty cubby's, or perhaps some smaller switches in the tray in front of the shifter (which I've seen done with the '09's). The reason I haven't done anything yet is because I have a strong feeling I will be buying a 2011 F-150. Reason being because it will finally have a new engine with more power and much more importantly better MPG, and also will finally have rear window w/defrost. I know the 2010's have the defrost now as well, but might as well wait a little bit and get the new engine too. After that I should be done buying F-150's for a long time, been spending too much money on F-150's since 1996. Then I'll throw some switches in and get that lightbar up there! Until then, anyone who throws a set of switches inside, post those pics! I doubt Ford will put Upfitter Switch option in the F-150 anytime soon, even though it would be incredibly easy for them to do so.

Aux Switches

For those of you that are interested I've found a site for switch panels that would look very nice installed. They are Marine grade switches and come in a variety of options.

I emailed Tasca about Raptor switches. They replied with a price of $168 for switches and SVT plate

Not too bad Smkeater - Am I right thinking that they fit in the console area just foward of the shifter? I'll have to take another look at the Raptor interior.

Thanks for the update -

My bad didnt realize same interior pic!! But would need to fill the two switch openings on the left of the SVT panel. Yeah I feel a little cheated.
