Idiot newbie question....

Ok, i know this is going to be a stupid question, but i looked through the manual, and i found the section for this, but it still has me confused.

This morning I put the truck in reverse, and got a message that poped up "rear parking aid" "yes" No"

Now i know that this is a setting that either will beep if you are too close to something in the back when backing up. My question is...how do you select the "yes" and move on to other settings??? I tried the reset, odometer thingy, and all that does is toggle between yes and no...how do you selct one of those? Also...why is that just showing up when i put it in reverse? when i put the truck back into drive, it goes back to my trip metering .

Thanks guys

It's showing up when you put it in reverse so you can disable it if you are backing into something you want to be close to, like a trailer, and you don't want to hear the annoying noise. As for selecting yes or no, I'm not sure, maybe it just works on yes and is silent on no. I'll try it later tonight and see.

thanks...i know what the feature actually does...what kind of confuses me is first...how did i even get into the mode where you can choose to change it to yes or no? and also...how do you chose the yes or no value to move either to the next menu item or to get out of the set up completely. I know you can change stuff like....oil life warning, headlight staying on feature, etc...but in the manual it says there is a "info - setup - reset" button, and i dnt have these that i can see...i just have a "select/reset" thin button belowthe speedometer.

Hold the thin button down for a couple of seconds when your desired selection is highlighted.

ok....i think i found a few things out.... if you toggle in the message center, you can get to that area regarding the RSS system, and eithe rchoose yes or no. So i chose "yes" so that is all cool.....

but the real question is, everytime put the gear selector in reverse, is the message center suppose to say "Rear Park Aid" and give me the option at this point to still choose yes or no? I would think if i chose yes in the main set up that it wouldnt keep asking me every time i put it in reverse. Does anyone elses 2010 with RSS always ask them yes or no for rear park aid when they put the truck in reverse?

Yes, it comes up every time I put my truck in reverse. The only time I turn it off is if I have the tailgate down which causes it to beep.

the way the sytem works its alway on when u shift in to reverse

they give you the chose to turn it off very time you back up

so if you want to test it, leave you tailgate down, that shift the truck in reverse, it will beep like crazy, hit the trip button its off

back in to park close the gate do it again it will be on

hope that what you were looking for

Thanks guys, thats what i was looking for! I wasnt sure if it was suppose to sho on the message center giving you the option of on or off every time you put the truck in reverse. I figured you set it once in the master setup area, and thats it...but i guess they like to give you options....hahah thanks again guys!

Yeah, back up up a couple of times with the tailgate down like the post above says - you will be thanking the Ford gods you can turn it off quickly.
