I don't like the headlights on my 2010 F150

I love my new truck, but I really prefer the headlights from the 2004-2008 series truck. Can anyone tell me if the headlights and surrounding trim on my 2010 can be swapped out for the earlier model lights? If the hood and fenders are the same, I would LIKE to think this would be a viable swap.

I think the older style lights look "smoother" and more streamlined than the lights on my 2010.

I think you beeter look at a picture of both trucks, no way your getting the 04 to 08 lights on there.

sorry everyone....just found a picture that verifies that this is a no-go unless changing the fenders and hood at a minimum. So much for a reasonable, thought provoking first post!

Sorry!

Hmmm, amazing. I had a 2005 and now own a 2010. The headlights in the new truck are hands down better than the previous truck. The fogs suck dead fish food though.

I think the OP was saying he liked the looks of the old headlights better, not the funtionality.

Yeah, I assumed he was just talking style-wise as well. The 2004 is still a very nice-looking truck, no doubt, although I do like the '09 better, heads & tails being 2 things I really like especially, but to each his own.

But I will also add that the fog lights on my 2009 Platinum absolutely suck compared to the fogs on my 2004 Lariat. The fogs on the '09 are so incredibly pathetic that it's almost a joke having a **** to even bother turning them on at all. What a horrid, horrid job Ford did redesigning those fogs. It makes me wonder if the '06-'08 ones also sucked. Not sure if it's the tiny round design, or if they are so low; as to be completely useless. But either way... well, they are completely useless.

the old headlights will bolt on directly to the new truck, you just have to make sure to tighten the headlights extra tight. If you hear a crack while tightening you are almost there, turn it a few more times and you are good.

Good point - although that would suggest that the OP prefers good looks over good lighting. Oh well, to each his own!

To be quite honest, I think the functionality of the lights is really poor. The only time I feel the visibility is acceptable is when the fogs are on in conjunction with the low beams. When the hi-beams are on, the light seems very weak to me. In fact, even on a very dark roads when hi-beam would be most beneficial, my lows/fogs offer better visibility than the hi-beams.

I'm going in for first service next week...hopefully they can be adjusted.

And yes, the original post was regarding looks, not functionality.

I can get away with a light swap, but doing the whole clip.....my sofa is not comfortable enough to think about that!

BTW: Tuxedo black is the color.

Others have done improvements to the fog lights. That'll be on my "to investigate" list once the weather warms!! This global warming is slowing me.
