DO NOT SELL IT you will regret it...when I was looking at trucks to purchase I test drove the Tundra and Tacoma prior to my Ford. I thought the full size PU was going to be overkill, so I was seriously looking at getting a Tacoma. After careful research I have to say I am so glad I bought my Ford F150. I feel like an idiot even mentioning I was considering the Toyota products. IMO the Tacoma was over priced for what it is. Ford all the way. Hope it all works out.

I am pleasantly surpised with the positive feedback. Appreciate it guys, maybe I will change my mind.. i have some time to think about it. Maybe just buyers remorse.

Thanks again everyone!

2010 xlt

Welp... time has passed, and I still think I want to sell the truck. Bought it 11/19/2009 and it now has I think 4200 miles on it. I think it has seen rain twice and bugs a few times.

Waiting may actually have helped you out for a trade value. Back in March 2009 I traded my 2004 Lariat 4x4 Screw loaded and only got 10K trade, which was right in line with KBB trade value. But if I look up my 2004 today on KBB it's almost an increase of 5K! Who would have ever thought trade values would go UP?! Seems to go against all logic & reason. But perhaps it'll be good for you!

You are probably not going to change your mind if you don't get in it and drive it. Trust me, it will grow on you.

My last truck was an '04 Scab. Now I have a '10 Screw. It felt twice as big the first few weeks that I drove it. I was very intimidated at first in small parking spots, Now I am used to it. Get in it and enjoy the ride. It is a great truck. You are going to throw a lot of money away if you trade it/sell it now.

It all depends. I bought a 2010 XLT Screw in July of 2009 for $23999 and traded it for a 2010 Lariat Screw in February 2010. They gave $22k for it with 10K miles on the clock. And, it did not come out of the new truck, as I paid $30K for the new truck (before trade) that had an MSRP of $41040. So my net was $8k out of pocket.

The Tacoma isn't a solution either as it is almost as big as a full-size truck and the quality is not there. I agree with Aviator that you need to drive it more or nothing will change.

Welp, here I am a year and a couple of months later.. Still have the urge to sell it. If you know anyone in Wichita, Kansas that is looking for a 2010 XLT, I think it has 12-13k miles, not a ding on it not even a scratch... I will even say no swirl marks (I used 3 bucket method and use a separate mitt for each panel to reduce risk of scratching. Not sure what it is "truly worth".. I am thinking 25k, do you think I am off?

I guess so I don't mislead... a few scratches in the bed.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but no. I can go to just about any lot and buy a brand new 2010 XLT Screw for about $21K.

Right now, gas prices are going up. The value of used trucks and SUV's are dropping like flies again. I doubt that you could get close to book value right now, sorry. Should have pulled the trigger a couple months ago when you could.

I doubt that there's a dealer out there that would give you 20k for it right now.

Sharp truck, is this 2 or 4 WD?

Ford A-Plan is about 12% off sticker, supplier/preferred is 4% less than that, here in Michigan rebates are $4,500 - $7,000 depending on what you have to trade or currently own. Then take .20 cents a mile, should get you close.

What was your MSRP?

The sticker on my 2010 F150 Lariat Screw 4WD loaded up was $47,000 about 10 months ago when it was sold. I bought it used at a dealer in Indiana, 2 weeks ago, with just shy of 11,000 miles on it, for $35,000. It's clean as a whistle...not a scratch on it...not even a rock chip or bug guts...and the interior looks like nobody ever sat in the thing.

I could not afford the payment on a $47K truck new....but by letting some other poor fella take a big hit on the new vehicle depreciation, I am able to drive a super nice truck, in great shape, that's just getting broken in. (Plus this one had Line-X, Alarm/Remote Start, and Rear Headrest DVD system.)

The formula of new sticker, less current incentives, less 25% for depreciation is about right in my case. I'll take that.

I've bought new for my last 3 vehicles. Not anymore. I'm going the used route, a year or two old. I could get a new 2010 for $34K, but it wouldn't be a loaded up Lariat Screw 4WD.

$35k on $47k is 25% off. People are getting that right now off of brand new trucks with zero miles. 20-30% off is the norm. If I was buying an old 2010 with a 5.4, the 2010 tranny issues and it had 11k on it I would want quite a bit more than 25% off.
