What is used 2010 truck worth?
#33
The worst thing for anyone trying to sell a USED 2010 F150 is Ford's sales incentives on new trucks. The best thing for anytone to buy a 2010 F150 (new or used) is Ford sales incentives.
If you're selling a used vehicle, no matter the mileage or how young it is, you have to underprice the 'new' price by a considerable amount to get a sale. Most people are payment buyers and have an itch for new over used (monthly payment difference will be small for a new vs used truck). You need to make it worthwhile for the itch to be overlooked.
Good luck.

If you guys are getting that kind of money off sticker on the new 2010's, then it looks like I did pay a little too much for a used one.
Ah well, no sense crying over spilled milk. Can't do squat about it now. I love the truck and the payment is about what I was paying on my previous vehicle. Score a bucket for the stealership I guess. I'm just trying to be a charitable consumer and look out for the economy...yeah, that's it. LOL

It is official... it is for sale.. I am going to put it in classifieds, it has 17k miles on it. not a scratch on it.. not even swirl marks.
In case your curious.. the straw that broke the camels back... this is been an issue on my truck from day one.

The way the transmission is made, under certain circumstances, the throttle will shut off to save fuel, when coming to a stop. This is a design. Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes. Just feels more like a manual trans.
And yes, I've ditched a lot of vehicles because of problems, Titan for brakes not functioning nearly causing an accident, rear differential as it was starting to go out, and electrical problems. The brakes and differential issues were why I rid myself of that big POS even though it had tons of other issues that were noise or minor annoyances.
Pathfinder was rusting and it was only 1 years old. $7000 to fix, got rid of it after 3 years when I couldn't keep up with the rust spots.
GM motors builds some of the worse crap on the planet. Their vehicles actually break down and strand you. Got out of those for that reason.
The only real issue Ford has is the way the new 2006 - 2011 transmissions (6R60, 6R75, 6R80) shift. They shift strangely to save fuel economy. It even works, not one of my much much lighter V6 SUVs could even match the fuel economy I get with the very heavy truck with a large displacement V8! I love the short gearing and having an available gear to match the engine rpms. Even with it quirks, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Ford is also the most reliable and highest quality of build vehicle I've ever had. That pertains to both my 2008 Sport Trac and my 2010 F150. Can't say the same for my 1994 Plymouth Duster, 1995 Plymouth Neon, 1996 Chevy Camaro, 2000 Nissan Xterra, 2004 Nissan Titan, and 2005 Nissan Pathfiner. They all were built with mediocre build quality except the 2004 Titan which was horrible build quality. The 1994 Plymouth Duster, 1996 Chevy Camaro, 2004 Nissan Titan all left me stranded from mechanical breakdowns within the 1st year of life! The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder left me standed in it's 2nd year of life.

I definitely wouldn't base the minor transmission shifting issues against either 2010 or 2011 trucks. Ford came out with a program for my 6R60 on my Sport Trac and it made the shifts smoother than any other trans Ford ever put out. It took about 2 years to get the best program so I'm confident they'll find one for the very similar 6R80 trans that the 2010s and 2011s share. Even without it, the issue rarely pops it's head and it's only a minor annoyance.

I know this thread has went in a different direction, but for conversation sake I can give a little info on trading my 2010 for a 2011.
My old truck was a 2010 F150 crew cab lariat, platinum white 4x4 with the 5.4. Pretty much loaded except for the navigation system. The window sticker on it was around 43k if I'm not mistaken. I bought it in October of 2009, after the rebates, Z-plan, and my trade-in's, I bought the truck for $30,500.
March of this year I was getting the itch for a new truck that would tow a little better, so I started looking at the ecoboost fx4's. I owed around 25k on the 2010 at the time, so I figured if I could trade it in for a little more than I owed, I would jump on it. Well, brought it to the dealership, and had 16k miles on it...but it was clean inside and out, no scratches, dents, or interior damage.
I looked up the KBB trade-in value, and they had it for 30k on the high end, 27ish for the low end. Edmonds was a bit lower, somewhere in the high 20's. When I went to the dealer, we talked about what I wanted but I said it all depended on what they would give me on trade. I told the salesman I would like to see 30k...he pulled it around for the used car guy to go over it and give me a number...they came with 31k trade in value. I was geeked, I drove the truck for a year and a half, put 16k miles on it, and they gave me $500 more than what I paid for it originally, and cut me a check for the difference (owed 25 and change, they gave me 31 on trade). I ordered my new '11 fx4 that day, and 3 weeks later it was sitting in my driveway
Almost forgot, they had my old truck listed on their used car lot for 37k...I'm sure that was slightly inflated for bargaining room.

Here is my 2 cents... I just bought my 2009 XLT SCREW 4x4 with a 6.5 bed with 4.6L earlier this month for 23,999. It had 42,000 miles before I bought her. On a 0-10 scale, it is a solid 8 condition. Minor scratches here and there, broken door latch (fixed) and a minor tranny issue I am trying to resolve. Still under warranty for the powertrain. It is from a used car hi volume dealer. PM me if you want to find out where I got my truck from, I don't want to get into trouble for advertising here. Hope that helps.
BTW, you are going to lose your shirt and pants if you are going to sell now. Since you just bought it, keep it and use the truck's capabilities as intended. I use mine as a work truck, she hauls lots of gear from time to time as well as getting me to work. I am a work-a-holic anyways. I like working my job - freelancer.
Good luck to you bro!
