Question Windshield Wipers - '09 Platinum?

Have any of you changed out your wipers yet? And if so, what size did you end up using?

The manual shows no sizing whatsoever. And the guides I find around only show up to 2008. Most say 20", one even said 18". I bought some 20's (Rain-X Latitude) but they must be at least 2 inches short of the stock wipers on a Platinum, they certainly didn't measure the same when I took a stock one off and flattened the Latitude 20" to compare them side-by-side. So I put the stock back on, no way I'm going less than stock that's for sure.

I'm guessing the stock must be 22", although I bet even 24"s would fit easily since there is so much windshield area not swept by the stock blades. Strange Ford doesn't have wiper size in the manual.

Any thoughts? What have you guys done? Thanks!

Just Measure what you have and get that size. A 22" wiper is 22" long give or take a quarter inch. Just make sure to measure both sides, many new cars today have a longer wiper of the drivers side.

I have the Bosch wipers. Work so much better than the stock wiper and they look nice also.

The first thing I replaced on my 08 when I bought it was the wipers, with a silicone blade that is at least 2" longer than stock. On my 08 that is a 22" blade on the driver side, and 20" blade on the passenger side. I think stock is 20" and 18". Either the PIAA Super Silicone Wiper Blades or Silblade work great. They cost more, but last longer, so in the end the cost is the same, but your window will remain clear and easier to see out of with a silicone blade. It's a no brainier, I put one of these blades on all my vehicles.

No idea. I just used the thing on the website to work out what model to buy. Then went to pick them up and advanced auto and they confirmed it was the right model wiper.

Maybe I'll go outside and measure mine now, because either:

a. The 20" that I bought were actually 18"'s in the 20" package
or
b. the truck takes 22"s not 20"s.

Let's go see...

OK, the stock wipers on an '09 Platinum are 22".

Oh, and both driver & passenger wipers are the same exact length.

I still bet that you could even fit 24"s on there, there is so much windshield that is never wiped. Though I don't know if that could effect the wiper motor burning out or wobbling or anything; I assume there's a reason FoMoCo goes with the 22" stock, not 24".

What you need to look at is how much space there is at the top and bottom of the wiper when it gets to the end of the swipe on the left of the windshield.

If the wiper is too long it'll contact the cowl or the molding along the edge of the glass.

Replaced the wipers on my 09 Platinum with Rain-X blades 22 in. Do not like the fit on passenger side, Blade is too long. The far end of blade does not contact the window. May change this one out to a 20 in. It tended to hold snow and slush and iced up when we had the last two snow storms.

The curve on the blade is good until it lays on the glass, it's just that the window bows down on the ends and blade misses glass.

I bought the Michelins from Costco for 7.99 each. They are the fancy new designed ones (sorry cant think of the model) made in the United States.
Both sides, according to the pamphlet in Costco, needed 20s

My 04s are 20"s. Guaranteed.

Also note the "x" factor when buying off brand wipers is that they are not all centered. Some 20's fit great. Some will wack the far a pillar or cowling depending how they're centered.

Hmm, interesting to hear all the different results. Not sure what I'll do yet, no rush. But I went outside and double-checked, and both stock wipers are 22" on my '09 Plat.
