Transmission issues

I need some honest opinions from 2010 f150 owners. How many actually have the rough shifts and shudder from their transmissions. Is this problem common of just on a small percentage of trucks.
I am down to a new GM SLT or a Platinum to replace my 07 SLT. I really love the look of the Ford and the interior, plus it's different then what I've had in the past. It can be had for only 3k more than the SLT but I am worried about these issues.
I realize people come to these forums when they have problems and they are not a true reflection of the majority so I guess I looking for some reassurance.
All those with no issues please speak up. My Last 3 GMs have had zero powertrain issues.

Trying to take the leap!

You may or may not get the transmission shudder. It's the luck of the draw.

never had a problem with my FX4. These transmissions are actually holding up well... I've talked to a couple technicians who said they haven't had any come in with failures, which you would normally expect in the first year or so of production. They have re-flashed a lot of them, but that doesn't take much and is not indicitive of problems down the road. Ford quality and reliabilty has come a long way in the last 10-15 years. Go for the Lariat... You won't be disapointed and you won't be supporting government bailouts!

Ours has been great, but ours is a "late build", its just over a "month" old...so, it has the latest firmware already flashed at the plant. If you're buying one now, chances are it has the latest firmware in the transmissions ECM already (either at the factory or the dealer).. nothing to worry about.

Only way to know for sure, is get the dealer to run your VIN number, to see if the transmission TSB has been performed or not. Not every truck "needs" to have it done, if your transmission is shifting smoothly for you and you're happy, don't worry about it.

I've had mine for a month now and it seems better than when I picked it up. Once in a great while it jerks a little bit mainly when it's cold. When I picked it up at the dealer on delivery day I was surprised at how hard it shifted into 2nd, Much better now.

Exactly,

Most of the tranny shift issues that I am aware of were on 09's and certainly not all of them by any means. These tranny's have adaptive technology?? or so I've read that learn your shift patterns for a short period.

What does the shutter that everyones talking about feel like. I have a 2010 XLT and sometimes from 1st to 2nd I feel something like a hesitation or something but only when I start off real easy from a deaad stop. if it is something I should be concened about I would like to bring it back for them to check.

How long have you had your 2010?

My 09 did that for a short period when I first got it. The transmission will/should adapt to your driving habits in time, so I wouldn't worry about it

I have an '09 and I have had it reflashed. Eliminated about 80% of it. It really only does it when it is cold.

I drove a rental Silverado yesterday ('10 with the 5.3L). I love that motor and have it in my Suburban, but I have to say that was one uncomfortable truck compared to my F150. Just could not get comfortable and the back seat was terrible.

Plus.......missed my man step.
