Leveling Truck

I have a 2009 2WD STX. I want to level out the truck in the least expensive way possible. I do not tow or haul anything. Would lowering the rear be the way to go. If so does anyone have pics or instructions on how to do it? Thanks so much for the help

Kind of in the same boat here. Picking up my FX2 next week and got 20's. Still has quite a gap in the wheel well, thinking that it would look clean if the truck was leveled conservatively, like 1" in the front and 2" out back. Is this kit in existence? Maybe Eibach? Open for suggestions from whoever has experience lowering trucks, just not S10's...

First decide on the total look you want for your truck. Essentially it's one of two options. A rugged offroad look with all terrian or mud tires or a street look with larger wheels and performance tires. Install lowering shackles out back if you want a street look or install a leveling kit/spacer up front if you want an offroad look.

With a 2wd STX or FX4 I would definitely go with some 2" drop shackles for the rear. I had a set on my 07, and still trying decide if I want to put a set on my 2010. Ground Force makes a good set and they are fairly easy to install with a little patience.

So you guys recommend just dropping the rear end 2" only? I could live with that as long as the ride isn't going to kick my @$$...

Why would you drop a FX4 in the rear to level it? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a four wheel drive? Not being smart, just asking. I leveled mine with the spacers in the front.

I think he said it was an FX2, not an FX4... I agree with you if in fact it is an FX4... why?

Lowering shackles will not affect the ride. Neither will front spacers.

I got ya spdracer! and just to clarify dirtyd, I'm not wanting to slam my truck with airbags, merely wanting to level the truck out as there is a lot of wheel well space going on with these 09/10's. I think dropping the rear 2" would be completely acceptable and not too "ghetto-ish". To each their own, you don't see me going onto the "lifted" threads and invoking the 15th commandment, now do you...

Does anyone know where you can purchase a good set of 2in lowering shackles online and are they hard to install? Anyone have instructions?

MikeT, looks like Summit and Jegs has a set of the Ground Force 2" shackles for $112.99+shipping. Summit wanted $12 to ship them, not sure about Jegs. You have to go thru the ordering process to find out.
I'm also curious as to how difficult these would be to install by myself. Can't find any kind of install manual on their respective sites.
