I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars and trucks closely as they age.

So far over 500 F150 owners have signed up to participate, including 63 for the 2009. A good start, but more remain needed to fully cover each model year.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Ranger, for free. I'll share results in this thread after each update.

We've updated the results for the F-150 to include owner experiences through December 31, 2009. With a repair frequency of 39 repair trips per 100 trucks per year, the 2009 F-150 is about average, but close to "better than average."

Just enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.

As always, more participants would be helpful. Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May, with a preview for participants in mid-April.

Those updated stats in about a week.

Currently have 70 owners signed up for the 2009 and 37 for the 2010. Very good, but with sample sizes more is always better.

2010: 57, about average, small sample size

2009: 35, better than average
