F150 or Ram 1500?

I sold my 2001 F150 SCREW 4x4 on March 1st. I bought a 2009 Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 with only 5,000 miles on it...it was a lemon and I returned it to the dealer tonight.

This leaves me truckless.

I went out tonight and found 2 options. First is a 2010 F150 Lariat SCREW 4x4 with leather interior, 5.4L triton, shift on column, split bench seat. It's a nicely equipped truck. I can get it for $33k flat.

Next I looked at a Dodge Ram 1500 SLT crew cab 4x4 with the 5.7L Hemi, split bench, cloth seats. I can get it for $32k.

Decisions decisions. They both have a great ride quality. The ford definately has the nicer interior, better steering "feel", better tow and payload ratings.

The dodge has way more power and much better interior storage options.

The 5.4L Triton is still a bit of a dog when you hit the gas...my old one was the same way...I don't know why Ford finds this acceptable.

I looked at the JD Power ratings and Ford simply blows Dodge away in all categories...BUT...those are based on the 2006 year model. The Dodge had a significant redesign in 2009 so I'm not sure how relevant the old JD Power data is.

The truck will be a daily driver with light towing requirements. I hunt and fish and occasionally haul a boat, a 4-wheeler or some farm equipment.

I'm going to pull the trigger on one of them this week. Any input is appreciated.

Gimme something guys...WHY one over the other? I figure I'll ask this on a Ford site because I'll hear the strengths of the Ford over the Dodge from others who have faced a similar decsion. Who better to hammer the weaknesses of the dodge than a bunch of Ford fanatics.

Lariat > SLT anyday. The power issue can be fixed with custom tuning. The dodge really has nothing on the F150. Well, unless you REALLY want bedrail storage...

Theres a reason F150 is number 1 selling for 32 years....quality and reliability sells.

dodge does offer more "flashier" trucks from factory, but whats the point??? get a bad*ss ford and make the upgrades you want in a truck!!!

I sat in a current gen Chevy on my dealer's used lot while waiting on service.

I'm sorry Chevy owners. It felt like sitting in a cramped rental car. Their crew cab rear seat has nothing on Ford's.

i was working for dodge as a tech when the new 2009 dodge 1500's came out and i worked on them. I had the chance to get one and trade in my ford but i kept my 05 f150 because i got to see the flaws the dodge does have. i'd stick with ford because dodge doesn't have the problems worked out of that 5.7 hemi yet. they really like to burn valves with in the first 5 k

Another very good point. I don't think the 5.4 will take a lot of work to get some power out of...but it definately needs a boost.
