Bought my 2010 HD Feb 26 and used FMC then paid off the FMC note on March 5. No penalties.

Take the rebate and refi before you make the first payment, nothing they can do about it, you get the $1k.

I'd say that's a great deal in Canada. I just bought a Platinum in TO. MSRP was 60 929. I purchased for 45 6000 CND and taxes.
I saw the invoice the sales person had. I thought I received xplan pricing but as she showed me, I did better than that. With Ford discount and Costco (7000+1000) I got 25% off sticker - You got 26%.

Just wait a few weeks after purchase to ensure the paperwork went through. Or as soon as you get some from FMC, re-finance!

Nope, had to work 2 jobs in college. I couldn't even afford a Lariat today making 45K... to many other financial priorities like a house so I went with a XL Screw.

I got My 2010 SCREW FX4 5K below invoice. The truck stickered at $44K and I was out the door at 35K. The even put in a TUFF spray in bed liner and I get 3yr/30,000 of free maintenance through that dealership. I started at one dealership and they ticked me off. I went to their sister dealership without realizing it and told them how I got treated. The second dealer ship could not have made me happier. The only thing that made me mad is I was trying to play hardball and they made the deal way to sweet the first go around. I was putty in their hands and there was no way I could say no and walk away.

One happy camper,
Deano

I think going into the dealer with the window sticker in-hand and saying I want this one was a mistake. That lets them know that you are set on that one truck and they know there aren't any others around like it.

Instead of nickel and diming accessories, service and add ons with them, tell the salesman if they can meet you in the middle of your offer and their offer you'll buy it today. For some reason they love hearing you're ready to buy today. And tell them you are waiting on calls back from other dealers too. After all it is getting close to the end of the month.

Hey guy's don't be so hard on these dealerships, they are a business and if they don't make a profit on every sale sooner or later they will be shutting their doors and then where are you going when you need service or warranty on your vehicle. I want the best deal I can get like the next person, I got $7800 off my $45000 2010 Lariat a few months ago, Local dealer and I did not have to spend all day and drive 400 one way miles to try and save 400 dollars. I was pleased with the deal then and still am. I got exactly what I wanted, they also gave me additional $13500 for my 2005 Colorado that I only wanted $12000 for when I went to the dealer. The bottom line is don't worry about what kind of deal the next guy got, just feel good about the deal you got.

For every buyer who does his/her homework and gets the very best deal a dealer can offer there are at least four clueless buyers who will get taken to the cleaners and, on top of that, sold every pac the salesman can add in. One cannot underestimate the naivety of the average consumer any more. The phrase PT Barnam coined years back about suckers is true today as well.

Same here. I took the extra 1k discount tonight when I bought it and will refi it on Monday.

Their finance guy asked me to wait three months before I refi because they frown on it if it's done immediately. I asked who they frown on...him or me. He said both so I let him know that I don't care if they frown on me. He tried the pity party deal next telling me that if they get too many that do it like that then the dealer won't be able to offer it anymore and they may have to pay the 1k back.

I was trying not to laugh right there in his office.

It's an easy 1k discount...I asked up front if there were any prepayment penalties and there are none. Done deal.

I also struck off about 1k worth of stuff they wanted to add on as if it had to be in the deal...like 300 for a bed liner, 95 for nitrogen filled tires, 300 for a leather protection package and another 300 for something else. They'll try to squeeze a grand in on you wherever they can.

I got a good deal, they make money, we all get something we want.
