Help Deciding
Can't post details on my truck cause I don't have one yet. Shopping for the one that fits me and I hit a road block. I think I already know the answer to this question but maybe you guys could confirm it for me.
Are any of the 2wd F-150's are available with locking rear differentials like the FX4 has?
And to answer the inevitable suggestions, no I can't go with 4wd (wife), and I don't consider limited slip to be an exeptable substitute for locking rear.
Thanks for your help.

I'm wondering where you're taking a 2wd truck that requires a locking diff? Maybe the boat ramp with a heavy *** boat?
And I'm with the other guys. If you really want the FX4, get it. You'll get a 2wd so you can save 10% on the price of the truck, only to always wish you had spent the money and got what you really want. There are too many people posting on this forum that buy a new truck way too soon because they skimped on the first one.
Do it once and enjoy it.

I would say go the 4x4 route. I was thinking about 4x2 but then realized i always wanted a 4x4. I may not use the 4x4 much but to have the ability will outweigh the costs in my mind. My only problem is I don't need a fancy truck. But I hate the steering column shifter. I have an 04 explorer and it just takes to long to shift since you have to be really precise to get it in the right gear. It takes an extra few seconds to get right but an extra few to long in my book. Its much easier to shift with a floor mounted one. So I gotta pay alot more than I want to, to get an FX4 since it has the flow through console/shifter and doesnt have stupid wood grain. Im sry i hate wood grain.

i have a 4x4 and have only used it twice maybe??? but regardless, the 4x4 retains its value a h*ll of a lot more over the 4x2 and i still get 18.1 mpg highway in cold weather, so you're really not gaining all that much going with a 4x2 in my opinion....my first truck was a 4x2 and it was a one wheel wonder, taught me how to actually drive a truck (which is probably why i've used my 4 wheel drive a handful of times over the last 6 years)!!!

Just get what you really want...your wife will understand when you explain to her all the moaning and groaning you will be doing when you end up buying the wrong truck. It's actually cheaper in the long run because you will have bought a truck that has everything you want and need vs. spending more money on aftermarket parts and accessories on the truck you settled for.
