Our new Fx4

Our new Fx4
Well, after much deliberation and frustration we chose a 2010 gray Fx4 for our new hauler. I almost bought an XLT 4wd with 3.55's because there was another 1,500 in rebates and discounts on them. But the little lady convinced me the 1,500 wasn't worth driving something I didn't really want.
I am glad because we pick up our new TT Friday and it is 18" longer and 500 lbs heavier than we had planned on. So the 3,73's will be a nice plus.
I did compromise on the Fx4 though, no leather, 18" wheels, no camera... Also it was built Dec 09 which be before the base cost hike so that saved another 800 bucks or so. It was a dealer trade that the first dealer put LineX and tint on it, so I got those for free since my dealer didn't have to pay for them.

Nice choice Terry! I picked mine up about 3 weeks ago and went with the Lariat instead of the 4x4. I wanted the 4x4, but figured that I would never use it whereas I'll use the leather seats daily. I got did get the 20" wheels though because I thought that they looked better on the 4x2. Mine is Ingot Silver and I got it at Don Davis. Where did you get yours?

I always buy at Ford Country Lewisville, I built a Lightning for the sales manager 8 years ago and he has sold me my last 4 Fords at cost and given me asking price on trades.
The 18's have the weaker springs only two leafs and the extra sidewall and A/T tread gives a little more sway when towing from the extra sidewall height. I wanted the 20's for towing stability and heavier leafs.
We use 4wd a lot when working the dogs and dry camping in the woods. One year I had to pull a guy out at Fun Ford in Baytown. His F250 2wd was spinning on wet grass in the back parking lot. The resistance of the trailer was enough to keep him from going on the slick wet grass.
The rear cab room is stupid huge! The dogs love it. I already got my Weathertech mat.
One thing I did notice is how loud the rain is through the roof. I may drop the head liner and dynamat it...

The dealer installed tint and a cheapo bedliner. They had also installed these new rubber mats on top of the factory ones. I think that they are called Exactmats. I don't care much for them, but the wife likes them. Luckily I refused to pay for any of the dealer add-ons and they just left it all in rather than take them out.

Years ago, I tried to buy an F-150 at Ford Country. They wouldn't even talk to me because I was a little upside down in my trade (stellar credit and cash to put down). I took it to Don Davis in Arlington got what I owed, and respect from the staff. Now I deal with another dealer exclusively with very good rapport. I guess I just had bad luck in Lewisville.

Great truck, L8 Apex! And great to hear you buy all your Ford's from Ford Country. It has a special place in my heart: my dad is the GM there! He's been in the biz for over 35 years (the past 5 there in Lewisville, the 30 before that all in OK). He regularly walks the showroom floor and greets everyone, whether they're buying or not; you'd never think he was the GM/part owner! Once a purchase IS made, he likes to shake hands, look them in the eye, and congratulate them on the purchase. He sincerely appreciates everyone who walks thru that door. Only way to run a business in my opinion...
