Therefore I don't think this would be legal either.

Just a thought.
Well, one could always get rid of those rear facing ones, right? I don't even like 'em! Just another thought...

True, I don't know if there are inserts you can buy for them. But you could just leave them unplugged and only use the LED's in the mod.

This way you wouldn't need to run seperate wires to the mirrors if you wanted running lights ..
This is exactly what the diode is for. Forces the electricity to go a single direction and therefore would prevent the rear facing LEDs from being lit with the running lamps. I think this is a sitatuation where running additional wires is a better option than trying to find a unit that almost does what you want it to.

If it's not legal (in some states) to have amber lights (that can be seen from the rear) then does the US superduty model not have the big square amber running lights on the outside part of the mirrors ..?

2010 Mirror on 2008 model?

Hey guys,
I finally found this post here and thanks for posting all the details. Now, I have a F150 FX2 2008 white and would like to put the 2010 mirror with the led modification on it. I have two questions.

1. does the F150 2010 side mirror fit on the 2008 FX2 model?
- I was not able to find anything online, and the Ford dealership will not help me at all.

2. Can anyone give me the link where I can order the 2010 mirrors? All I find online are different mirrors then the 2010 without heat function.

Thanks if someone can point me to the right direction

Did mine in about 1/2 hour. I actually just popped of the reflectors from the outside using a flat head screwdriver then accessed the wires from the underside of the mirror (the round hold cover) as I didnt want to risk breaking the mirror. I used 9 LEDs on each side to get the most visiability.

Here is a quick video (sorry the youtube quality is kinda meh)...

Question i have is now that they are in im wondering how i would wire them up so they work with the parking lights as well as the turn signals? I saw that it was brought up and talked about but has anyone actually done it succesfully?

Has anyone done this who had the black block plates where the turn signals are in the mirrors? I have electric mirrors but they have black plates where the turn signals are.. Does this mean the wiring for the turn signals wouldn't be available to tap into?

I have the 2010 STX.. I want to try this mod this weekend. I know I would need the reflectors from the stealership or Tasca online?

Has anyone successfully gotten it to work running lamps and turn signals? I was thinking to check V-leds.com for the dual led's white and amber, if I can even do this mod in the first place....

i bought the reflectors and replaced the black inserts, they were like $13ea, too much, bu did it anyways.... i bought them thinking i could buy the trun signal too and just run some wiring to do the mod with blinkers... however the dealership said i cant buy the blinker light that its only available with the entire mirror so i said ef' it.... i didnt want to run wiring for just the reflectors on the front and have to do it again when i finally do find blinker lights for it...

Can anyone else confirm the same? If I have the mirror block off plates, can I do this mod?

I would be surprised if Ford didn't already have plans to add the turn signals to the front of the mirrors in newer models.
