I haven't done this mod yet so i was thinking maybe I can order a 2011 light module to just plug or splice in. I wonder if Ford had already planned blinkers or got the messege from all the people on this forum.

Apparently people are buying these LED strips up in mass. I visited 2 AutoZone stores and an Advance Auto and all were sold out of the 12 inch strips. I bought the 8 inch strips with 6 LEDS. I will be doing the mod tomorrow.

Another one done! After I was sure everything was working, I put a bead of clear silicone around the LED strip, for the reflector to seal onto when put back in place. I'm hoping this will prevent water and grime from entering between the reflector and the white backing.

Got mine done last night, i used the 6 inch led strips and they are not long enough so i will be popping the reflector back off in a few days and hooking up longer led strips.. I did break the driver side reflector tabs though, its a bummer but it was only $12 for a new one.. I was unable to pry the mirror off, i had to use a long hook and pull the locking "ears" off one at a time then was able to pop it right off.

I did the whole thing without removing the mirror, just connected all the wiring through the opening where the puddle light would be. It was tight, but do-able.

Is there anyone is the Dallas, TX area that will come out and do this for me? I'm a in no way touching the wiring on my truck to do this, no matter how simple. But I will pay someone to do it for me and have a couple of beers as I watch. Let me know if anyone in the area is willing to help me out.

I did it yesterday, 9 leds, through the puddle light hole. I found that I had more slack in the wires on the drivers side, so I guess it varies somewhat.

Nice Mod. Many thanks to all who contributed to the thread. Special thanks to the instigator and the fella that thought up the shortcut!

Question

I like this led mod. My question is are the wires in the mirror if the truck didn't come with the factory lights? I think they wanted like 350.00 for the lights at ford. looking for an alternative.

I'm in Fort Worth and could help you if you wanted to take the trip this direction.

After seeing this picture I was wondering how you would get 9 leds in there?
