Aftermarket hood for 2009/2010?

Since I was caught in a hailstorm last week it looks like I may be getting a new hood for my truck. I've done some searching for aftermarket hoods but haven't found many options for these trucks. Has anybody found a good looking hood out there yet?

Since I am still in mourning over the storm damage, maybe you can help me out by posting your finds as well.

I had some hail damage to my hood, roof and one on a glossy pillar, just a couple months after buying my Platinum early last year. But the spots are hardly noticeable once you wash 'n wax the first time after they hit. Wasn't worth considering replacing anything on mine. Then again, mine is White Sand Tri-Coat, so it's probably a lot less visible than on black, which seems to show everything. Either way, good luck. Just try giving it a wash, dry, clay bar, polish, and then wax first. Mine came out barely noticeable unless actually looking for the sun trying to glint off the little dents. And I never even think about it (or see anything to get reminded of it), and it's been almost a year since it happened.

I personally think the aftermarket hoods aren't as good looking as the factory. If you had some type of high performance truck and needed that extra air to cool the engine, then it would be cool.

I also think they limit the type of person you can re-sell your truck to when you get tired of it and want something new.

Just one man's opinion.

be careful of fit...

One of the reasons I'm in a new truck is due to putting an aftermarket one on my old truck. I, too, got caught in a hail storm in my old Tundra. The place that 'fixed' it used an aftermarket hood instead of OEM - just a stock looking one though. It didn't fit right. No amount of adjusting or fiddling would get the seams around the opening even and level. It annoyed me every time I looked at it and started the whole 'i need a new truck' justification process.

Maybe the more expensive aftermarket hoods are better, but if I had to replace anything again, I definitely pay more and go OEM.

Not to veer off topic too far and at risk of being tarred and feathered, I have always liked the way the MOPAR aftermarket hoods looked on the Ram, both current generation and previous-

previous gen

current gen

I would be curious to see what the SVT team could put together, but most likely it would be for the raptor. That would mean it wouldn't fit on the normal trucks. But one can dream.....

Those are nostrils, not hood scoops.
