AMP Research Bed Step - that's the one I was thinking of .Mounts on the corner of the bumper .Folds out when needed and can be used with gate open or closed.

I'm 27 and have no issues climbing on the bumper or jumping out of the bed, but I'd sure as hell get the bed step and side step if I were buying a new Ford truck. It's not about the pain it causes you to get in and out, it's because it makes it so much easier when you have to get in and out of the bed a lot. Who wants to have to step on the bumper, then swing your leg over the tailgate a dozen times if you are loading stuff up by yourself?

When I was looking at buying a truck, I definitely didn't want it. However, I found my dream truck that literally had every other option I wanted and none of the extra options I didn't except for the tailgate step. Test drove the truck and tried out the tailgate step. Definitely converted me. I'm really glad I have the tailgate step. I'm 5'11/6'0 tall, 22 years old, and have spent the last 3 years climbing all over fire trucks so I don't absolutely NEED the tailgate step. However, it makes life easier and I'm going to be getting in and out of the bed a lot over the years so might as well make it easier. The handle/plastic covering on the tailgate took some getting used to, and I thought about doing the same thing Westpoint did. However, I decided to keep the handle also, and I've gotten completely used to in the last few weeks I've owned my truck. So, I'm completely happy with mine and would definitely recommend it.

Like a lot of others, the truck that I wanted had it.
I use it and it works great.

I have the tailgate step and find it to be a pretty neat item. Sure makes life easier!

In the whole price of a truck the cost of this option is negligible and in my mind well worth it.

The midget stripper pole can only increase the likelihood that midget strippers will drop by for a visit. Can't go wrong there.

I did not get it on my 2009 XLT, but would probably get it now after using the step on Dad's 2009 Platinum.

Gotta love the man step ....
Makes getting the CRF into the back a little easier ... used to have to put the bike stand there, hope I was on level ground and then hope I didn't miss it when pushing the bike up there. It's a great option for the moto folks.

The handle? New tailgate cover on order. Hate that thing

This was the one thing I was thinking about when I saw the step, I can use it to load my bikes. I haven't tried it yet but I am glad someone else confirmed it works for this purpose. Besides I plan on having this truck for a long time so i figure the step will help me more as my knees get older.
