Question Any 2010 "Job 2" Max tow trucks?

Read on another forum that Ford changed up the rear springs on job 2 max tow units. (not sure if this applies to non-max tows w/20's) Now one less leaf, but possibly thicker?

Wonder if this is rumor or fact? Not sure when job 2 began? Must have been couple months ago. Haven't had time to check out local dealers...

I don't know my build date but the convoy date on the window sticker was 3-5-10, and when I installed my ride rite kit it got ruined by the bumpstop so maybee some thing is different.

I spoke with knowledgable dealer. They switched back in Jan/Feb and did go to 3 vs. 4. Ford did not advise dealers why.

No numbers changed though. (GVW/Payload etc)

i'm confused, i got a job2 with max tow. only 3 leafs. other than the brake control and the gvws i see no other differences for the extra $1000. with the 4 leafs i felt it was worth it. not impressed

How can you tell if a 2010 is a Job 2? Mine was built 2/10.

There are other diff you can't easily see. The aprt # for the 3 you got and the non maxt tow 3 are diff too so you still have more capability.

rear spring code is the same as a non max tow but, there is a spacer under the springs on the max tow. so the rear sits aprox 1" higher. also there is a little difference in the hitch. if i find any more i will let you know. also gawr is more on the front of non max tow vs more on the rear of max tow.

For comparison to other people's 2010 numbers, mine stats are"

2010 F-150 Lariat Supercrew
6'-6" box
Max Tow
18" Wheels
Front Axle Gross Weight = 3900
Rear Axle Gross Weight = 4050
GVWR = 7700
Max GCWR = 17,100 (just B.S.)
Max Trailer WR = 11,100 (just B.S.)
Truck built early December of 2009
Probably Build 1, although supposedly a "change" with Max Tow in relation to 2009's.

Interestingly enough, I still wonder how they come up with this spring, payload, GVWR, etc. stuff. I am now fighting using a 1/2 ton with a travel trailer again, with the same basic results I had two years ago that forced me to s 2/4 ton. Now with a much lighter trailer and a heavier-duty (or capcaity) truck, I am really no better off.

Point in hand, my 2010 is a Max Tow Screw. 1,615 payload capacity. With me, DW, and two kids (both under 9), I hit just under 7,000 GVW with absolutely nothing in the truck except my fiberglass lid (150#) and 7/8ths of atank of fuel. Maybe it was 93 octane that pushed me over the edge.

Anyway, that is 700 pounds short of the GVWR, and barely enough to meet my trailers tongue weight. My point is that even if take off my family's weight, and the lid, I am about 500 pounds short of the stickered "Do not exceed 1,615 pounds for payload" on the door jamb. I don't have any other aftermarket stuff on my truck. The graphics, stainless rockers, my CB, and my weight "over the manufacturers allocated 150 pound driver" don't weigh 500 pounds. That new 6.2L in the Superduty better be good...
