I happen to like the older paddle mirrors better and I want to swap out my power heated fx4 mirrors for some older style power mirrors. Was thinking of trying a set that also power fold. Anyone have any input on this? If I bought power fold mirrors, I know the folding may not work without added wiring, but will everything else? Are the connectors the same no matter what? Would love to see some pics of this if anyone has done it. I read one old post where someone had done this swap but no pics.

 

I've never heard of this, but a couple people have done the swap the other way around (09-10 mirrors on an 04-08). So I would think that if you could swap them that way you could swap them the way that you want to. I know that the doors on the 09-10 are identical to the regular and screw cab on the 04-08, so swaps will physically fit. The only thing that I don't know about would be the wiring. It may be the same, and a plug and play; but Ford may have changed it on the NBS. Maybe somebody else can chime in on this. I know that the 09-10 mirrors are pretty popular to us 04-08 guys, so you could probably get a trade and get what you want for no cost. Food for thought anyway... I would do a swap but I drive my truck everyday so I pretty much need to get the mirrors and install before getting rid of my existing mirrors. I am also considering having them painted to match. I just want to be sure it will work. Here is a thread to someone who has pretty much done this...

The 08 mirrors should fit without having to change any pins on the harness. The Ford Accessories tow mirrors that I purchased were listed to work on the 08 and 09. The same mirrors are listed for both 09 and 10. So an 08 mirror should work on an 09 up. Anything before 08 will work, but you will have to move on or more of the pins around.
